Worked perfectly. Now everybody can see my smiling mug shot on page 1 of this thread. Like I said, NO tint using a PE upgraded to Ermine. Thanks again.

Recap, then:
If a green poltergeist has taken your Edge after Ermine, you may probably be experiencing: 1) Two camera apps listed in the "Manage applications" menu (versions 1, and 2.2.1). 2) No previews before shooting, just a green solid field. 3) Inacceptable green-tinted pictures after shooting. 4) Inability to uninstall either of both camera apps. 5) Force stopping useless to solve the issue. 6) Clearing data useless to solve the issue. 7) Trouble only in still picture, with video recording okay. 8) The shutter seems to work with a considerable delay. Is there anything else to add so we can better define the issue? Let's stay tuned to the thread until someone comes up with a solution. As camera drivers are packed into the Android OS package, they are not easy to reinstalled individually. |

So a restart simply removed the initial picture freeze. Now, clicking the camera button makes the preview screen instantly black, then about 5 - 6 seconds later, a picture snaps.

Has anyone found a way to make the camera usable again. Since I upgraded to Ermine, I've been getting the grainy picture with the dark green tint but I had a viewfinder. Now the onscreen viewfinder is just a green rectangle. And while the color on the video camera is fine (suggesting the problem is software not hardware), the final "movie" is stretched out of shape so that it appears like an image in a funhouse mirror.
Another oddity is that the "still" camera requires that I hold the Edge vertically upside down so that the camera is on the bottom, but the "movie" camera requires that I hold it horizontally so that the camera is on the left side. |
