Exactly. This is something I really considered. I agree with Niatrue.

With the exception of keeping us informed as to what's going on and the availability of accessories, I'd agree with NiaTrue also. Their tech support phone lines is easily accessible, friendly and helpful. And the forums here are as good as I've seen elsewhere, too.

One thing to think of, we seem as a group to have written the edge's eulogy when perhaps the company has been sold and great new things are going to appear. I remain somewhat hopeful.

Actually, it does go back a couple of months earlier, Nia.
If you recall, dontpanic made his famous Statement on Froyo post at the start of November. That was after several weeks of us clamouring for an update on Froyo after back in the late summer we had been told Froyo would come in the "Fall". If you re-read the first few posts, you'll see that people responded with gratefulness for some news at last. Perhaps nostalgia is tinting our glasses already ![]() |

enTourage sounds more like it's going into bankruptcy receivership - something companies usually keep quiet out of shame ![]() EDIT: Another scenario would be "buy and bury" where a competitor buys up a competitor in order to shut them down. I just can see enTourage being a threat to any of the larger players, although a slightly larger startup may see enTourage as a kickstart. In both cases, the buyer would stay mum as both are somewhat "devious". Last edited by borisb; 04-01-2011 at 06:21 PM. |

This is really really sad. I feel like I lost something, and I never even bought the product. It is such a great idea though.

The original question was why did entourage come out with the PE before the EE software was fixed? I think it was partly due to a number of unrealistically harsh comments about the size/weight of the EE by tech reviewers who spent little to no time with the device.

The reason I never bought it is the same reason I can't buy it now. My finances need to clear up. That''s what I was waiting on, and I was getting close. I had finally paid off my credit card this month; almost have my tax situation under control. In another month or two my car would be paid off, and then I would be in a situation where I could invest $500 in such a device. But I'm not there yet. I was looking forward to the day when I could get one though. Very sad.

Hi, not being "tacky" but I'm sure you will be able to get a used one at a pretty good price if you still have the desire.

That's a possibility, but I still have to finish getting my finances straightened out. I'm really hoping this technology gets picked up by someone. One of my main complaints was that it used the Adobe Digital format for ebooks, which I'm not particularly fond of (it has difficulty rendering Greek text properly). But the idea of being able to annotate on eink and attach files and such to text on eink, that is greatness. This technology really needs to not die.

I just ordered my EE three days ago and it's on its way to my location as I type. Question is...should I keep it or send it back? I've sent emails to frequent posters for advice, but I'd welcome advice on this from anyone. I so looked forward to getting my Edge and then....KaPow! I finally got a hold of a man in Media Partnership department for Entourage and he advised me in a round about way to buy an IPad...perish the thought...no thanks. The closet thing I can find is the Dell Duo...and that's not quite what the EE is about....if anyone has a word to two of advice...I'l listen. My biggest fear is tech support/service if something should be wrong initially or after a while...who helps me out and covers the warranty? No one? Thanks.
