I can't speak for all, but I bought it in the fall and have only changed the batteries on the light once. I would guess it depends on individual useage. I have a few of the Mighty Bright lites. I like them for light coverage but the bigger ones are the only ones that clip to the reader. I don't like them overall though. They provide great light but I find the neck to be too floppy. I love the MB Travel Flex but you can't clip it right to the reader. I love that one for use on a reader case. |

One thing about the lighted cover - which I love, by the way, - working from memory (I'm upstairs, reader's in car, and haven't had to change the battery yet on my 650 cover) it's just an AA/AAA so a rechargeable will do, won't it?
Score one for de environment.................. ish ? 'course, when I get my NEW 350 & COVER (excitement excitement) , I shall do the same................... Thanks for the encouragement, Poppaea - you knew I'd give in to temptation eventually.............. ![]() |

Oooooooh! That is a nice one!! I was in Borders yesterday with a 50% off coupon that I had intended to use on a book that's not in eformat. My husband does not take kindly to me looking at book lights because I have so darn many of them. ![]() I lost him in the store and perused the book light section at the front. ![]() I love that this one clips right onto the reader and is super, super bright. Being rechargeable helps too. How long did it take to charge fully the first time for you? This thing had a few hours charge in the car plus overnight and it's still showing red not green. I also noticed that if the Arc isn't fully open then the light goes out. Is this normal? ![]() |

The Arc is said to work with the 350 and 650. I'd like to know if it works with the 950 and whether it leaves scratches as well.

It appears to have been designed to sit so the top part of the clip touches the top edge of the reader but it doesn't on the 350. The instructions say it's meant for the 300 & 600 Sonys (plus some other readers) and if your reader isn't listed then use whichever clip fits your unit. I use the A clip. The B fits so that the top part of it touches the top edge of the reader but it falls off so it defeats the purpose obviously. The clip on Verso is nice but it does create a bright spot on the reader. The world won't end but I find myself moving the reader around when I'm reading where the bright spot is. With the Arc, there's no bright spot. I don't know why, but there isn't. It's awesome and so very bright!! It's not weightless but so far I don't find the added weight to be of any major significance. I hope you get it at a decent price. $40 is pretty steep for a book light but $20 works. ![]() |

Sadly yes I do have that one too in two different colors. LOL I don't find it clips very well because it's so big. It'll clip to the reading surface which blocks words of course. If you clip it to the reader without being on the reading surface it doesn't clip well and falls off. And then there's the floppy neck thing. It's pretty weighty too compared to some other ones. It's an awesome light for paper books, crafting and things like that but not some readers. IMO to use it on an ereader you need one with a large surface edge that it can grip to. Hope that helps! ![]() |

Thank you, that does help a lot. This Belkin light from Target looks like a good alternative. Apparently, it clips on on nicely to the PRS-950, which has similar edges. It seems to have a pretty bright light, too.

Small pieces cut from washing-up gloves and inserted in clip will stop scratches, help "hold", and is easily replaced.

I'd prefer the graphite version of the Belkin eBook Light, actually, though I haven't seen one on any site but Belkin's.
The part number is F5L073. |

I got my Verso Arc Light yesterday and I love it, even with the following.
For the Sony readers, it says to use the smaller shoe, but I have a DecalGirl skin on my 350 so the smaller one doesn't fit. I could probably get it on with a lot of forcing, but don't want to risk tears in the skin or cracking the light, so I just use the wider shoe. The fit is a little lose. If I hold it upside down and wiggle the reader around, it usually will fall off. But since I don't do acrobatics while reading, it stays in place just fine for me. I could probably put a piece of adhesive tape inside the shoe and make it more snug if it ever became a problem. It's a softer light than the Sony lighted cover and the Mighty Bright Travel Flex Light (Travel Flex is brighter than the Sony also). It seems more of a yellowish cast than as white as the other two I have, but still more than bright enough for reading for me on the 350 display. It would probably be an excellent choice for people reading in bed where a brighter light might disturb their partner. Being the softer light means there's no glare spot on the reader screen anywhere (unless you tilt the reader back, which isn't a natural way to hold it while reading), it's really a nice uniform soft light over the screen. The edge of the Arc Light lines up almost exactly with the edge of the reader, it's a hairline shorter. I was concerned it would come down and cover a slight area of the screen, but it doesn't at all. The light itself only swings out halfway as images show, which is a good thing, it keeps the light centered for reading. It took about 4 hours for the initial charge through the USB cable. The only real drawback for me is that the USB connection is very tight to plug in and then remove from the light itself. Hopefully that will loosen up with time. But all in all, I love it and would recommend it. I will definitely use it over the Mighty Bright. Come winter when I'm not on long walks and reading outside I might still switch to the convenience of the Sony lighted cover, but overall it's a great light. With the promo code that Sapphire posted on Page 2 it was $8 off, total with shipping was $33.55. Last edited by Ripplinger; 05-27-2011 at 12:03 PM. |

Congrats Riipplinger! I'm really liking mine. I don't find it to be yellow though but that could just be my eyes. I played today with using the B clip and something to make it snug and it works better than just pushing it on. I wanted to use that one so that it sits on the reader's edge fully.
I added a piece of rubber shelf liner to the inside of the clip and it seems to be perfect so far. I didn't glue it or anything I just cut it so that it fits and have it so that it sits under the clip front to back. It doesn't show at all and it seems to fit perfectly with no wiggling at all. It's the non-adhesive kind with the little nubs so you can cut it to fit your shelf or whatever perfectly. It comes in several colors too so you can make your decor or in this case your reader or light. ![]() Regarding the tight USB connection, try opening the arc light, plug in the USB and reclose it rather than plugging it in when the light is in the off/closed position. I noticed it tight too but then did it that way and it went in and out better. I used my Blackberry charger to charge the reader and the Arc light and it works great. I got the green light indicator overnight charging it that way. I'm loving it so far. I had to laugh because the hubby commented on which number of light this one makes for my 'collection' the other night while reading in bed. LOL I showed him the difference between the Arc and the clip and even he said 'oh wow'. LOL I got quite a chuckle out of that. |

Mine arrived today. It is as great as you said it'd be, Shopaholic!
![]() I am very happy with it. Price was 25€ that's about $35, which is fine for an item that is not sold in Germany. |
