Still not available in the US. I'm waiting to see both sizes (4" & 5"). I'd love to replace my iPod touch with an Android player.

In my personal experience 5" is the ideal size -- at least given my idea that the best size is the biggest screen size that still fits into my pocket comfortably. If you make the bezel too small you have no way to hold it without activating the screen. Don't be fooled by the small difference in numbers, 5" is a whole lot bigger than 4" (a friend has a 4.3" screen and even when I see that I feel that I could never go back to such a tiny phone ).

Thanks for the info. Right now, I'm dealing with Apple's tiny 3.5" screen. I want bigger. I fear Samsung will drag their heels on a US release. As is, the technology is nearly a year old. The Galaxy S was released last June and the S II with a dual-core processor is already upon us.

Personally, I think Samsung waited too long to launch the S WiFis. They should launch the S II WiFis at this point. I mean, how difficult is it to leave a 3G/4G radio out of any smartphone and then market it as a player?

Me too. I really like the high resolution of iPod Touch (326dpi) and hope there will be an Android device that approaches that. A 5" screen with the same number of pixels as iPod (960x640) would probably be close enough.

I voted for iPod Touch. I have both an iPhone 4 and iPad 2. For reading comics, iPad 2 wins, no question. For novels, etc, I prefer the iPhone. The iPad might have a larger screen but the Retina Display on the iPhone just looks so much nicer. On the iPad, I have to make the font quite a bit larger to be comfortable.

Being able to use just one hand for holding the iPhone/iPod Touch and turning pages is also a big bonus. I'm actually considering buying a latest generation iPod Touch to act as back-up reader for my iPhone when it's charging, etc. Just waiting for some really cheap refurbs (probably around August or September).

However, I would love to see a 5~6 incher with Retina Display (or similar technology). I can't use e-ink since I do a lot of reading in the dark.

There are all sorts of lighting solutions for eInk devices which are very effective. I have an Amazon case for my Kindle with a built-in light powered by the Kindle itself - it works beautifully.

Well, I ended up with both...I love the reading on my iPad and the convenience of an iPod touch, it is always with me!

If you have an Android phone, how come you also carry around an iPod?

Last night when I crawled into bed, I had my Droid X, by my side and docked as my alarm clock, and I had my iPad on my lap reading. As I started getting tired, the iPad was too cumbersome and I didn't want to fall asleep on it, so I put it aside and grabbed the Droid X and attempted to read some more. I have to admit, for reading in the bed, I like had little the Droid X is next to the iPad. Especially when I may fall asleep w/ it in my hand.

I hate overhead light. Would something like LightWedge work with eInk readers?

It is not a dedicated ereader, is a tablet, but works great as ereader. I use it with GoodReader to read PDF files; Kindle app. for my computer books; Zinio for Magazines. Because is 10" is awesome. Enough size to enjoy the magazine's pictures, for example.

The Kindle 3 is my portable and eink device, love it. But the iTouch is just too small for me to use it as ereader. Besides I have an Android phone ;-) ... which servers as a similar device and I prefer Android Os.

If you want one, I'd try to get one off of ebay since they don't make them anymore. It's a great little reader. I gave my Sangria Red 505 and cover w/ light wedge to my sister. I liked the light wedge better than reg. reading lights as well. I understand why Sony with their touch screens don't use them, but I wonder why Kindle hasn't made one?? I love my Sony 700 for reading at night because it has the front reading light built in but reminds me of the light of the wedge, but warmer!

A light wedge inevitably results in some degradation of the clarity of the screen. I find the "light on a stalk" of the Amazon lighted case to be extremely effective.
