I hope tubemonkey and others who get it will keep us notified about the type of deals they are offered. Maybe a thread in the Kindle forum?

Koland has a very nice write-up on her first impressions here:
http://blog.booksontheknob.org/2011/...pressions.html It includes a link to one of the offers and I see that the offer is indeed restricted to owners of the kindle with offers. eP |

The agency publisher's bestsellers are excluded from the "bestseller" list you need to buy from with your Visa for $10 credit.
At least the agency 6 is consistent with their exclusions across the various retailers. |

the VISA deal would be a loser for me as I just realized I no longer have any VISA cards, not even an ATM VISA...weird, had at least one for years and years but after changing banks a year ago or so I guess the new bank was only MC. Oh well, but from that blog link at least the ads look really no different than the screen savers. Actually as one blog commenter pointed out, the ads if they all are screen saver like might even be a nice change of pace from the tedious canned screen savers.
All in all, I don't see a single down side to the ad supported Kindle. In fact if it saves me money over the year I only see it as a value added feature. Far better than TV or snail mail ads. Now if only I liked the way the buttons on the K3 worked I might buy one. But I just don't like the outside press activated buttons as I have always and am now totally habituated to being able to grab my K2's by the outer edge to pick them up. Also the the subtle changes to the keyboard are not my favorite thing in the world. Those are the reasons I sent back the K3 we bought last year. Loved the Pearl though. |
