This is a sound position. Personally, I think coolness is almost always an irrelevant consideration.

Actually, everyone I showed my Kindle to who hadn't already seen one was blown away by the e-ink...people were much more impressed by that than by my iPad 2, simply because it's so different from LCD, so clear,...and because you can't get a good idea of what it really looks like until you see one in person, as looking at a picture of an e-ink screen on an LCD screen doesn't quite translate.

Having a reader is cool per se, as it means you are so dedicated to your reading to have a dedicated reading device

A long LONG time ago, I took a B&W photography class at the local college. The professor tried to encourage us to see the world in VALUE instead of COLOR. He said something to the effect that "color is almost vulgar in it's flamboyance" - IDK, it just stuck with me. I don't do any B&W photography now, but I absolutely love to look at really good B&W photos, ink drawings, monochromatic paintings.

And when I want to relax, I want to look at a soothing B&W page of text - not a jumpy, flashy, ad-laden LCD screen (my computer).

Cool To ask means you ain't ..................

No, it needs to do what you want it to do, and satisfy as many of your requirements as possible.

If one of those requirements (presumably) is for it to look cool, then,
in my humble opinion.......... you aren't !

I've been wanting a skin for it (the kind that also goes over the keys) but it's hard to find one that's not obtrusive.
I love Gelaskins! They are very artistic and rather cool, if I say so myself. I'm currently using this one: Forever Lost by Phillip Straub.
