Actually, they may have stolen it from Xerox PARC. Xerox used to do some interesting stuff once upon a time (they may even be responsible for the invention of eInk); they just don't want to market anything but copiers.

If you're not going to buy a product from a company that sues another company for patent infringement, you won't be buying many products.

Apple didn't sue MS for the mouse (nor did Xerox Parc invent the mouse, although they used a particular version); there was already a (small) company manufacturing mice in 1975.

In all honesty the only winners in this are the shyster lawyers who are very content to play this ludicrous game as lawsuits mean money for them

Sorry, no.

Companies make billions from patent suits and cross licensing agreements that result from them. It's how the industry works.

Apple wouldn't have brought the suit if they didn't think that they would benefit from it. They weren't tricked into it.
