To correct an erroneous remark on my part: Today I needed to recharge for the first time. I plugged it in (while it was off) and it came on, to the page I was on when last reading. So yes, the Jetbook can be read while charging!

I thought so, since the Libre can. Handy, isn't it?

That's a great price.. Mine was twice that..I've never figured the appeal of the JetBook Lite with throw-away batteries, but to each their own. MY Jetbook Pro is great and fits in the pocket of a pair of shorts..

Dixieknits, you were aware you can buy a Energizer Charger and 8 AA batterys for around 30$ in most stores now? Been running mine for many many months.

Over time that built in battery will drop how many hours you can read from it. My wifes is down to the 10-12 hour mark.

To replace it takes a 30$ kit, tools, have to open up the Jetbook.

With the JBL you just swap the battery's out. And if needed you can have a spare set of throw away's for traveling.

Also with my original jetbook I had very poor luck trying to read it while charging.
So when it ran dry I had do to something else for 4 hours.

With JBL when battery's are flat I swap them out for the other set and 5 min later I'm back reading again.

Both have their strong points and their advantages.

I like that I can fit the pro into my pocket easily. Other than that, the Jetbook lite with replaceable batteries would have won hands down. The ability to just swap out batteries and keep going is awesome, especially since the Jetbooks run out of juice so quickly (relative to e-ink devices).

I got ~ 30 hours of reading time in my testing of standard rechargeable NiMH
batteries, on my jetBook Lite. Don't know how many "page turns" that would
equate to.

Luck;

I'm happy to say my replacement red Jetbook arrived today. And it has the current firmware on it so I don't have to mess with that. I'll let it charge before I start messing with the files. It actually has a file of children's classics. I might want to re-read some of them.
