That's why I don't bother. Not once have I ever listened to the MP3 players on the phones I've owned. It's too much of a hassle.

Maybe you meant your phone does NOT have a 2.5 mm jack?

I sometimes listen on my Droid ... it does have a headphone jack ... but same deal .. I don't typically carry my earbuds in my pocket....

My phone does have a 2.5mm jack. The overwhelming majority of non-smartphones have that size. Smartphones OTOH have the standard MP3 player size of 3.5mm.

Oh....I guess I'm confused about the size. My phones(both the droidx and the iPhone) have a standard (3.5mm?) headphone/earbud socket...just like my mp3 player or cd player..

That's correct. I think they went with the smaller size jacks (2.5mm) back in the day when phones were getting smaller and thinner. Then when phones and PDAs merged into smartphones, they got bigger again and the trend was to put in standard (3.5mm) headphone jacks.

Even now, currently made non-smartphones still use the smaller 2.5mm jacks. It's a shame, but such is life.
