This is complete mockery of the existing customers by pocketbook. Simply don't care of the problems and release half baked products after products.

I strongly recommend someone from Pocketbook should translate the all the threads from mobileread and give the feedback to their boss to understand the ground reality of what customer really wants from the pocketbook as a ereader.

Hi Krish, et al,

I agree entirely with your first comment.

I am somewhat ahead of your suggestion, and have written to PB on several issues. Amongst other things, I asked if someone from the highest levels of PB could make statements here that would be adhered-to, and a date by which anything concerning the devices would arrive. Rest assured, I was quite blunt.

My answer was silence, so I wrote again and received the same result.

Now, when I hear of new models, I immediately feel there will be a new crop of unhappy customers with ill-working firmware, who will receive exactly what 302 owners have been given: empty promises. I can't see a reason why this won't continue until PB finally destroys all consumer confidence in its products and goes under.

As I also said in my email, this sub-forum is rapidly becoming a great advertisement for all other readers.

Cheers,

Please be assured that we are doing our very best to get reliable times from PB central. This is quite difficult. But please be assured that every model will be updated constantly.

Indeed, once a year is quite 'constantly'

First of all : welcome back mtravellerh!
I realize you are doing the best you can but really......"constantly" and "every model" doesn't go well with a PB302.

I gave this reply a lot of thought, and threw out several drafts because I felt I sounded just too angry and cynical. However, given my treatment by PB, its representatives and one of its sellers, I think anger is appropriate. And I am not alone in receiving such shoddy, unethical treatment. The threads of this sub-forum tell a very unpleasant tale.

Frankly, there have been repeated similar statements by you, and none have shown any substance over time.

Now, with new models on the horizon, MR members are expected to believe that poorly-supported devices, superseded devices, current devices, and new devices will all "be updated constantly" when all that has been evident in the past has been the opposite.

Why should anyone have any confidence in PB?

Hi mhtravellerh,

Good to have you back. I'm hopeful that the outsourcing will work out. Meanwhile I will keep using my PB302. While it does have some quirks, it appears to me to be no much worse than any other brand.

Years ago, I liked reading a lot. Due to time restrictions, this was reduced to only one or two novels a year for the last decade or so. Since I bought the 302 last year, I'm reading lots again. It is more easy for me to just pick up a book, and I'm happy with it.

Cheers!

According to this http://www.the-ebook.org/forum/viewt...=668940#668940 post on Russian forum, new firmware for 302 is already in prerelease state.

Seeing is believing!

We've seen promises before that a new PB302 was 'almost' ready. Furthermore we don't know which bugs are solved, which new features are added and which new bugs are introduced....

Seems to me it has always been in pre-release state if we believe all the promises we have been given. Seeing is....almost believing.

And even if it's here, haven't the last few firmware releases by pocketbook caused other issues (messing with dictionaries, PDF apps no longer working, etc?)....the chances of any fabled release actually providing more benefit than you lose are fairly low.

well guys, looks like an alpha version of firmware 15.4 did appear for the 302, albeit briefly: check this out on the Russian forum - I very much hope for you tomorrow really is the day for an improvement for your devices!

As far as I can see, the 15.4 version is locking up the 302. Seems that new firmware means a step backwards instead of an improvement.
But what happened to firmware 15.3? It never saw daylight on the supportpages of Pocketbook! Or did it?
