Android 2.2 will be available in the next month or two. I'm patient; especially when the Color sells for half the price of a Galaxy Tab.
Yes, I'm torn between the NC and GT. The NC's price point is attractive, but the GT has more hardware features; like available (but not required) 3G, built in GPS, and Froyo out of the box.

Luckily, my disposable income is a bit low just now so I'm inclined to wait; which is probably the wisest course of action in any case.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot about the cameras. I'm not sure if I'd use them as my phone has a most excellent (8 MP) rear facing camera, but video chat is attractive.

I want to thank everyone for all of their advice and help.

I'm not computer savvy so I have no idea how to "root" the Nook Color.

I should also mentioned that I didn't want to spend over $500.

NookColor rooting these days can be as simple as downloading a file, formatting an SD card with a special Mac/PC utility, copying the file to the card, and booting the NC with the card in it.

If your budget reaches to $500 you'll have plenty of choices in both 7in and 10in sizes. Pretty much all the above-listed products run lower (sometimes much lower).

To weed the field, decide how big you want to go on the screen and whether 3G is useful to you or not. Also, what is your drop-dead date for buying. The Android webpad/tablet market is in active flux right now with new products showing up almost weekly.

Nook is just an ereader. Tablets are supposed to be keyboardless and diskless netbooks with perhaps even some telephony capabilities... You gotta decide if you want just ereading and perhaps running a few other apps slowly or to have ereading be just one among many other features...

Yeah, the CNN couple was kind of weird and funny, hahaha... they also look a bit nervous I think.
