that price comparison app was fun on the Touch. I think I also used an Amazon app to do price lookups as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if the ipad1 vanishes from sale straight away once the ipad2 launches, this isn't like with the iphone where carriers have more control and a need to keep stock and is more like the situation with the various ipod models where the only time one has survived being replaced was when they made the switch to flash and renamed the hd-based one to ipod classic.

I assume those tiny cameras have been so commoditized (is that a word?) that they cost virtually nothing to buy and install, and they probably have the controlling programming already written and tested (just in case), so why not?

It makes for an additional talking point for sales people and allows for essentially silly, yet oddly impressive displays in the showroom. Those that can use them have them available and those who don't need them probably don't pay anything significant for them.

I'm mostly waiting for advanced LCD tech (mirasol or Pixel Qi) to get into some major products (Dell, Samsung -- some name worth trusting). Some decent battery savings, daylight readability with no compromise to refresh rate or quality in normal light. Could be a loooong wait though.

An all digital toaster? Sure, why not! You could watch the toast brown and eject at the exact level of 'doneness' Or, you could spy on the person who keeps changing the browning dial. That crime deserves jail time.

I'm also waiting for a device with a Mirasol screen. According to the rumors the first should be out before the end of the year.
The reason I don't buy anything which requires a back-light is that even tho most people consider them mobile, I don't. If it cant stay awake - without it's tail connected - as long as I can, I don't consider it a mobile device.
And since I already own a eInk device which works well, I see no need to buy anything with an inferior screen technology to do my reading on.
