[ENG?] Hello to all. Good evening Mackx, for my part already you can add it to the first message, every well is.
I proved it in one dr800, it gives the sensation that he remains blocked during the installation, but it is enough to touch in any part of the page with the stylus in order that it turns everything to the normality, then I restarted dr800 and "voila" text translated into 100 % with the accents and "ñ" in perfect vision, also texts of the package dr800 +-v2b.
Thank you for the rapidity in modifying the file. Certainly, if someone wants to return to the official language of the DR, only there has to install one of the official firmwares of the reader, for which I see unnecessarily to do a uninstall of the package.
P.D. This text is translated by the translator of elmundo.es, if I douche someone in translations thinks that it is translated badly, please regenerate the message and translate it since it is owed in order that it is understood by most of the possible people.
Thank you for everything.
Regards and up to soon.

This time the Spanish characters appear perfectly.

As adanpi says, the system appears to get frozen during the installation. I have not tried to tap on the screen, as adanpi has done (sometimes you don't think of the easiest way...), but after a while I have used the reset button. After restarting, I have been checking the text in many places (settings, search, menu...), and it is alright.

Thanks again, Marcel.

R4 Released

I added the installation package with the updated Spanish translation to the first message. I added a reboot in the installation script to avoid any problems during installation. I guess that they occur when the 'current' language is updated.

Thanks Iñigo for the advice and Paco for the quick fix.

I am still searching for people that can do the Greek, Italian, and/or Russian translation.

I'm in and ready to contribute with Polish (pl) translation. What is the procedure? Shall I download the bitbucket set of files and translate all the .po files, and then provide ZIP to you, Mackx?
I have dr800s to QA the translation (and BTW I'm a professional translator

Hi jakubd,

Thanks for offering to contribute. The 'problem' with Polish is that you cannot select the Polish language in the current version/configuration of the firmware. Looking at the code, it should be configurable, without changing the code. I first need to experiment with it.
If this first step is taken, I can generate new .po files for the Polish language. I will see if the changes can easily be made then we can see how to continue.

Marcel.

To add new language you have to:
1) Add new lnaguage in file /home/root/.gconf/apps/er/sys/global/%gconf.xml
2) Add support libraries in /usr/lib/gconv (for 8-bit codepages)
3) Add locales in /usr/lib/locale
4) Add text translation files (*.mo files) in /usr/share/locale/ru_RU/LC_MESSAGES
5) Add new language text in shortcuts in /etc/desktop
6) reboot
7) Select new language.

It seems I need a /usr/lib/locale/pl_PL folder, filled with the correct stuff. Does anyone know how best to generate it? Can an exsisting version from another linux PC be used? I did some initial searches on the internet, but that was not yet very helpfull.

@yuri_b: I waited too long to press Submit, so my post crossed yours. The question still remains, how to create the content of /usr/lib/locale/pl_PL.

Thanks for the info.
Looking at the code, step 1 should not be needed. During startup all directories in /usr/lib/locale are scanned and added to the available languages/locale-list. (Which should get stored at the next shutdown of the device.)

1) IMHO you can take all localities information from any Linux machine AS IS. (/usr/lib/locale)
2) You can use codepage libraries from any Linux machine but have to rebuild them for ARM. (or find ARM codepage libraries).

Seems that localedef -i pl_PL -f UTF-8 ./test_pl_PL does the trick of generating content for /usr/lib/locale.
Is there a way to look at the content of these file to verify that they are correct?
The other question I have is, how do I know which support libraries to copy into /usr/lib/gconf ?

(Seems that I can learn a lot with such an 'easy' subject as translations.)

Hi jakubd,

I experimented a little with varying results (Russian seems to work on the emulator but not on the DR). I checked in the pot-files in the BitBucket archive, so you should be able to extract the .po files for the Polish translation. If you could translate at least popupmenu and ctb I can quickly check if polish is working. If you need any help in converting pot- to po-files please send me a PM.

I do not have a clue why the Russian is not working on the DR, but is working on the emulator. If anyone would like to help I can post some installation files here?

Regards,
Marcel.

First two POs in your PM box. Let's see if it works. I'm ready to work on the rest of those files if you give me a green light.
