I would not get overly concerned about Borders becuase after some research on Borders last night there is some facts here that need to be explained. Borders is not one company its actually three different companies: Borders Book Group, Borders Book Stores and Borders Online. Think of borders as a two legged stool if one can be thought of. Borders Book group is the seat on top of the stool where you sit and Borders Book Stores and Borders Online are the two leggs. Borders Book Stores is obviously the one that runs the stores and is the one that is going into chapter 11. Borders Online runs the web site and is not having any financial problems nor is it going into chapter 11 and is going no where. Border's Book Group owns the other two companies and is having some finacial problems due to the book store chapter 11 but is still solvant.
The short answer is: just becuse the stores are going to chapter 11 that means nothing for the online operations You will still be able to buy a Kobo or Libra Pro for $100 at the online store and they will send it to you, most likely UPS. Your local Borders going out of business and won't be in your neighborhood anymore, don't be concerned order what you want at borders.com they will still be there your book store is going to cyberspace rather than the traditional street corner. |

Newegg has President's day sale with Libre at 89.99. The one I have is nearing a 1-year anniversary so far working just fine no glitches.

I work at a library that uses OverDrive. What is the process and firmware needed to make the Aluratek Libre compatible with the OverDrive Adobe Digital Editions DRM'ed epub and PDF books? Never seen an Aluratek come in the door, but it may some day! We mostly see nook and kobo (and the iOS stuff...iPhone, iPod Touch). We loan the PRS-300 Sony. Thanks!

I just side load library books to my Libre with Adobe Digital Editions. I don't think I do anything at all differently than I do with the nook. If you know the steps for a nook you should be set.

As wandalynn states, no differences between Nook and Aluratek. Overdrive probably fails to mention the Libre on their site because you can continue to read the book after the due date, until the device is connected back to your computer.
Have a Kobo (also side loads identically), had a Nook, and much prefer the Aluratek with the exception of shorter battery life. Had hoped that the Libre would be retailing for $60 by now, but I guess the Nook and Kindle are like giving the razor away to sell blades and Aluratek isn't in that position. |

I can connect my Libre to my computer to transfer books and what I'm reading is not affected......period. I have several library books on there that are expired and have not yet read but when I get a notice that a book I have on hold is available I will download then connect to transfer from computer to Libre. Nothing happens to the unread, expired books on my Libre. |

I'll risk the moderator's ire here - how do you do this? My unread overdue Overdrive books do not survive the connection to ADE to load a new book. I don't have an sd card in my Libre and I don't think I delete the overdue books from ADE on my computer. If I don't connect the books don't expire but once I do, they're toast. |
