That is what all the previews said that Honeycomb would offer -- now let us better wait to make sure that the early shipping versions actually offer that! We don't want another "this feature will be added in a future upgrade"....

Oops, I spoke too soon. Apparently, while you can have several windows open at the same time, it seems that only the active window will actually be running anything. At least that is what I deduct from the latest reports on Engadget, etc. Me bad. In the end, for me either a low-end tablet just for reading and browsing or a high end tablet with full Windows 7 functionality makes sense. Knowing me I will most probably get the latter, they seem to have come a long way.

Honeycomb major changes are:

-Optimized tablet support with a new user interface
-Three dimensional desktop with redesigned widgets
-Refined multi-tasking
-Browser enhancements including tabbed web pages, form auto-fill, bookmark syncing with Google Chrome, and private browsing
-Support for video chat using Google Talk
-Hardware acceleration
-Support for multi-core processors

The most important are hardware acceleration and tablet support. 1st one is for the Linux Kernel, so it can take full advantage of faster and better processors; last one is for developers, so their application can use the higher resolution and screen size.

The Galaxy Tab 2 is expected to be announced mid-Feb and it, along with Motorola's Xoom, will be dual-core processors ... which pretty much guarantees true multi-tasking support will be available.
