I personally want a color eink reader, I have the Sony 350
but to add color to the book cover amd news papers would be great
I will buy one when they come out
BTW i know for several years they have been called "graphic novels" but to me it seems like a way to say "adult Literature" instead of "porno mags", or "nudie books"

just call them like they are "comics" or "comic books" not "graphic novels"...lol

There are other books outside of the comic realm that have graphics

To be honest I cannot see a massive market for a standalone colour ereader unless it is dirt cheap. With the advent of Android, the showing of tablets such as the 7" Dell Streak and the larger Motorola Xoom I see the market being for more multipurpose tablets. If I was Amazon, I'd be looking to get on that gravy train and plan for a Kindle Tablet - I'm looking already at getting a tablet as well as my K3.

Electrowetting is the term to search for. It has low power requirements and can switch fast enough to show video.
There is also a huge amount of research being done on battery technology and battery replacement using nano-capacitors.

I do not want color ebook reader for myself. I just do not need one, because I mostly read books with no art.

I still see one very big market niche for those, textbooks in schools. I think textbooks need color and if there was cheap enough color e-ink technology, then at least some countries would invest and buy e-textbooks for every schoolchild. In long run it is first cheaper and second it is easier for children's backs. (Yes, here they have to carry their textbooks to school every day).

Blimey makes me feel old! I had to carry my text books to school too, and my lunch, my PE kit, my football, my conkers and my detention work book too invariably!

You don't know conkers !!!! You must have had a deprived childhood !

The hard seed of the Horse Chestnut tree. Once pierced by a hole through the middle, they are then strung onto a length of string and then bashed against another's to see which one breaks first...

It's AWSOME! One of the first books I got for my Pandigital was Bush's 'Decision Points' - I had looked over a hb copy in Borders but didn't want it that bad. One of my sidelines is photography - remember viewing slides? The photos in my eReader looked fantastic, compared to the book - think of backlit slides at a museum. Wonderful experience.

Since my reader also surfs the net, that would be pretty boring in mono

I really see no need or want to get rid of my 505, because for a large portion of my reading it is pure text. Now, if they came out with a 9-11" device that had a color epaper display I would want it. I'm a fan of comics, and something like that would be great.

Being blind, I need more contrast between font and background, ereaders that allow "night" reading are a step in the right direction (for me) but a color ereader set with black background, gold font set to a bold setting is pure heaven for my eyes (I'm not worried about eye damage with backlight screens I can even read with my "twice the legal definition of blindness" left eye that I cannot using other e-ink screens

Right now most devices that I've tried (and returned) that offer me this function are tablets which (to me) have unacceptable battery life and 90+% do not allow for easy battery replacement

The Aluratek Color Ereader https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=118133 is looking interesting

I was reading at the American Federation of the Blind about projected severe vision problems http://www.afb.org/seniorsite.asp?Se...ocumentID=3374

"Today, 6.5 million Americans over age 65 have a severe visual impairment, according to the Longitudinal Prevalence of Major Eye Diseases 2003 study. Experts predict that by 2030, rates of severe vision loss will double along with the country's aging population (Prevent Blindness America's Vision Problems in the U.S., 2002)."

There might be a market for a dedicated color ereader (no wifi, or android) for this segment of the population... combine it with text to speech and mp3 (audio books) capabilities and it would meet the needs of low vision/blind users
