Yeah this sounds messed up. I hope that Scion returns and doesn't let this whole "suspension" get to her (though I certainly would be upset).

I have more respect for everyone than to do that. If you own a device and want to gripe about it, fine. As long as you show respect to those that enjoy their devices, it's not a problem.

I don't go on the Kindle board and post "Does stripping the DRM from library books void your Warranty?"

In my humble opinion, the mods should look at how Rockdaman was obviously trying to be more disruptive than helpful by dissing the nook. Sure, he pretended to be benevolent, but you could see right through it without much critical thinking required.
Good point. I'm surprised that people do this kind of stuff. Be happy with what you've got (Kindle in this case) and let NC users enjoy the device in rooted or unrooted form.

Is there a way to only allow people to have an account on this sub-forum if they have a NC? Mods?

I don't see how SCION could have been banned......she deserves an award, for being the most helpful, not a suspension......

I'm hopeful the administrators of the forum come to their senses and end the unwarranted suspension (if in fact that's what it is)

I even went as far as sending a PM to the administrators stating my position.....I may have used the word "We - the nook forum community" in some of my comments.....

My new mantra ......."Free SCION - let her help those in need"

The moderators tend to turn their backs on a lot of stuff, especially some of the hateful stuff in the Apple forums, so I'm not sure why this got their attention. They should boot out the trolls but allow for open discusssion as long as it doesn't turn personal are hateful.

There are some pretty strongly worded comments from B&N staff on their forum about the rooted NC not being covered by warrantee and support being denied, but I doubt B&N would have asked the MR staff to suspend her. If they did and MR ablidged them, then shame on both of them. But as I said I doubt that happened. There are similar "jail-breaking" threads in every forum on this site covering multiple manufacturers.

As far as people not liking her approach, well tough bleep. Grow up. The world is full of diverse opinions and personalities. Learn to live with it or move along.

The kindle troll was obviously trying to get on SCION's nerves. She put up with it well for a while, but I think she had enough of it after a while. I'm also rather amazed at the narrow-minded people with low post counts who are delurking just to say how annoyed they were with SCION's posts. I think it would do SCION well just to stay away from MR altogether. I don't see her gaining anything from coming back. She should go where she's welcome and appreciated. The trolls can stay. They should feel right at home here.

I don't think BN had anything to do with Scion's suspension--I mean, there are numerous communities that are much more active than this one that are devoted solely to rooting the Nookcolor. It would be like trying to shove a baby back in the womb, there's no stopping us now.

Well, I'll be glad to delurk and say that I never found Scion offensive. I don't understand most of what she's talking about in regards to rooting , but I do have to agree with the majority of the posters in this thread. She's been nothing but an asset to this community and more than generous in helping as many people as she has. I personally have been more offended my Rockdaman's constant sniping, harping and just just general unpleasant demeanor/attitude on these forums than by Scion. I don't go troll on the kindle subforums of this board and it's rather ridiculous that a Kindle fanboy feels the need to come to the nook board and troll. I personally have better things to do with my time and I wish Rockdaman felt the same way about his.

I hope it is ok to post here even though I am a Kindle owner.

There are folks who have been banned here. They are listed as "Banned" on their public profiles and in whatever posts that they have left. Since Scion's banner reads "suspended" I think we can count on her returning.

I am glad to see that the Mods are not entering this discussion. What happened between them and Scion is private. I know it is frustrating to not know when she is coming back but I trust that she will be back.

I would suggest PMs of support would be a nice way to welcome her back. It is a bit more personal and I would let this unfortunate incident slide.

While not a moderator here, I have been a moderator at other sites. We see the public posts and that is it. We have no idea what was happening in PMs or other forms of communications. We have no idea what the Mods told Scion or Rockdaman. This is one of the cleaner boards I have seen so I am going to give the Mods the benefit of the doubt and assume that they both got equal suspensions after a series of warnings.

I think that on a place like MR, its the small stuff that can be the most annoying. The subtle little comments and jabs, and always needing to have the last word.

Its like being stabbed with a feather. Someone can hold the feather up and profess innocence -- that a feather couldn't possible hurt anyone -- but the person being poked with it sure doesn't enjoy it, and I've noticed that some people just jab and jab with that feather. Maybe even unknowingly, but still ...

That is just part of life though. I know plenty of people who I value for their professional knowledge, but I dislike their personalities. I haven't come across too many here like that, but there are a few who always seem to rub some of us the wrong way.

There are some of us who have more than one device. Or we owned a particular reader at one point, and sold it, returned it etc. IMO, nothing wrong with people cross posting. The main problem to me is that people take things so personally- so what if someone doesn't like the Nook, the Kindle or whatever your device happens to be? That's why I don't report posts and I had a real rude person attack me on the Kobo board- I can handle myself without crying to the mods.

We are all adults here. I hope Scion comes back and soon- I have a brand new Nook Color that I'm thinking of rooting. Granted, I feel a little more confident since I managed to get library books on my Kindle, but I still need help.

I too found SCION to be an asset to this forum. She has been very helpful and gracious in giving pointers. My take is that the Moderator just suspended both accounts to let things cool off a bit. Whether she would return to this board after the suspension is another question.

I would disagree. If she was suspended due to postings she made here, it is a public matter. The only way I see it could be private would be if it was something she said in a PM.

And we don't know what happened there. There are no boards that I have posted at or worked on where discipline is a public matter.

I love gadgets, and really don't care who makes them. I enjoy checking out different boards, and occasionally cross posting out of interest. I don't see anything wrong with that. There are plenty of Kindle owners who are great contributors to discussions here and have every right to post.

The problem here is that every now and then you get someone who has a bad attitude or nasty personality and likes to play around and mince words. They pretend to be looking for healthy discussion, but in reality they just want to jab and disrupt. It's pathetic.

Plain and simple, this all could have been avoided if "RockdaMan" would have stayed off the nook forum, as he was not contributing in a positive manner. He overstayed his welcome. Maybe Scion could have handled it better (I tend to like the fact that she didn't back down to him), but in the end he was the cause of the problem. I don't see a thread on the nook board titled "Oh no, where did RockdaMan go?"

In fact, many of the stricter ones disallow meta discussions, such as this one, in that they often degenerate into another incident revolving around the details of the previous incident.
