I just flashed the cruz firmware onto one of mine. Much better. It's a full android tablet now. Youtube works. It didn't with the original firmware. Is Samsung quaking in fear over Galaxy Tab sales? Not a chance. But for $30 or $60, it's a heck of a deal. At that price, I have to say I love it.

The modified Cruz firmware mounts the internal microSD card as "sdcard"... with the external SD card mounted as "sdcard1". That "breaks" a bunch of apps that expect the external SD card to be mounted "sdcard".

I agree. It isn't in the same league as the nook color. However, for the price it's not bad for basic lcd reading. I'm giving it to my son to mess around with.

Yeah, I was doing it that way too. I started to worry though about wearing out the volume buttons with so many page turns. Still, your point is well taken and that is a great alternative. I also found that a few other apps (like fullscreen games) were getting annoying with the constant pop up of the softkeys.

Does BBB mean Bed, Bath and Beyond?

Maybe I should stop by there as well.....I could give one to my Mom for her upcoming birthday.....it might be too confusing for her, but maybe, if I set it up for her, and show her how to get books from the library, and order books from places....it would be a good fit.....

An older friend of mine (he's in his 70's) who basically uses a computer for email and surfing, picked one up yesterday. He told me today that it is the first electronic gadget that he's truly enjoying.

My advice, buy one now and figure out what you're going to do with it, later.

hmmmm....I just called the nearby BBB, they have the Pandigital Novel White 7"....

However, the guy on the phone said, the price is $169.00, with 20% off in store (so $136.00) and then there is a $30 mail in rebate, which would bring the final cost to $106.00 (before tax)....
I asked him several times if he's sure the mail in rebate info is correct, he said yes....He knows nothing of it being $30 total, after all discounts/rebates.....(he saiid he'd buy at that price)

Maybe it would better to go to another Kohls.....

You have to ask BBB to PM Kohl's for $60. They will refuse to give you the rebate form, but you can get it off the BBB website.

Hey Joker, I think you caught the hacking bug!

The Pandigital Novel was actually the first android device that I hacked. It's actually quite easy to do now. It used to be more of a challenge, but things have progressed quite a bit since I owned my original one. Anyway, it is a fun device to mess around with, especially for $60 or less.

Do not show them the receipt. All that is on the receipt is a UPC and price. The UPC from Kohl's is different from BBB. It will be meaningless at best or will give them reason to deny at worst.

For those with a Dillard's in the neighborhood. You can try PMing there as well. The UPC for the one they sell at Dillard's is the same as Kohl's so the receipt will come in handy. Dillard's has a $20 rebate so it's $40AR.
