close the software (Reader Library), that is why it says that...

at least on mine it works that way, but heck I will take it off your hands
Yes, that is the way it works. As stated in the Manual, as long as the Reader Library is open you must'nt disconnect the reader from the computer.

Actually I found the Sony very intuitve and the things I didn't find instantly I just looked up in the Manual. Sometimes it is helpful to be able to read.

I returned my 950 after two days. Yes, I fully understood how it worked, etc.

I just didn't feel it was worth the premium. I have since bought a Nook color for bed and magizines and 350 for true reading.

And I got the 950 for $225 from Best Buy (was on sale for $249 and I talked the manager into letting me use the 10% coupon).

Still wasn't worth it, IMO.

What a shame, I'd have bought it right away for the price!

Me too, Poppea, me too!

(Currently there are some 950s on ebay Germany. I have been ogling them for a few days now. The seller's name is "bestbuyeu", so maybe they're catching on. Or someone has found a tricky screen name... You won't get a proper German bill (Rechnung), though. Ah yes-- why am I writing in English to another German person? )

It is curious that someone might think the Sony PRS 950 ereaders might be "worthless" when they are flying off the shelves and owners are raving about them!?!

Me too. That is a cheaper price than what I paid for my 650 and I am thrilled with mine. I love it so much more than any other reader I have tried.

I just sold my 650/BC last night on eBay, for 3 reasons.
1.) It is worth too much for me to own if the 950 is fetching not much more.
2.) I feel as guilty as having a $230 device that only reads books as much as I love this technology.
3.) I realized I really want a 950 instead. For me as an engineer I'd like to carry all the datasheets I have on one device instead of printing them. And it being a larger device with extended PDF viewability, it may be the best option. Just wished it came in navy blue like the 505 or black like the 650.

So I hate not having a reader, but feel guilty about owning something so expensive and uni-purposed. Would I make another mistake by buying a 950? Kind of wished I scored one for $225 like that other guy too

For what it's worth, the Sony Daily Edition (PRS-950) is made in Japan, while the Touch Edition (PRS-650) and Pocket Edition (PRS-350) are made in China.
