I had to do a Google search to find out how to do this on a forum; if there is no Manage Attachments choice, I haven't a clue - there is probably some sort of vBulletin command string you can use (something like [thumbnail]your image[/thumbnail] is what I mean by "command string") but luckily MobilRead provides us with the means to do this.

Thanks, Holly. I followed your instructions and changed my images to thumbnails. Much better!

Glad I could help. Ten plus years of being involved with various forums and I finally took the time to find out how to include thumbnail images.

I've bought skins from Decalgirl as well. I have 'got ninja' for my Sony (replacement for when I get tired of my current skin) and 'zen revisited' for my Kindle. I bought both in a matte finish.

Right now my Sony has the 'my heart' skin applied to it.

Aaargh - more things to buy! Just looking at the Decal Girl site, and some of those skins are sooo beautiful. Can I just check whether the Kindle fitted with the skin will still fit inside the Amazon cover? (Spot the new Kindle owner!) Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks, Kitten! So to justify my new purchase to my husband, I tell him that the skin will protect the Kindle when I want to read it without the cover, yes?

Perth is in Western Australia: fabulous scenery, Mediterranean climate, great wine, lovely people, glorious Indian Ocean. Can you tell that I like it here?! We arrived five years ago from the UK, and while I'll always love England, Perth is home now. The Olympic Peninsula sounds intriguing.

well I cannot in good conscience say it will actually protect your kindle. it might keep it from sliding out of your grip, it night keep it from yellowing, who knows. what we do know is that if for some reason you are seperated from your kindle, it helps identify it, and a colored skin "seems" to be easier on the eye.

ha! I know where Perth AU is, but here in the states WA is usually Washington State which is where I am at. I was going nuts trying to figure out where Perth Washington was!

Oh, of course! Hadn't realised I had created confusion with the WA - d'oh. Worlds and oceans apart from your WA!

I had to look it up, too. Western Australia as opposed to Washington. We really are a bit NA centric here in the USA, aren't we? That's why it is so nice - and often eye-opening - to belong to international forums like those on Mobileread.

As kindlekitten said, the skins don't protect the Kindle, or other eReaders, the way covers do, but they do offer some protection from minor scratches and make the Kindle easier to clean, as far as smudges and such are concerned. They are more a way to personalize your Kindle and to keep the economy going (gotta keep spending money or the world economy will collapse, right??) than a way to fully protect the Kindle. They are relatively inexpensive and do add to the Kindle experience, in my opinion; just get one and ignore your husband's need for justification.

A skin plus a good protective cover is the route I chose to go.

By the way, since this isn't really spelled out on the DecalGirl site, you can have them make you a custom skin using your own photograph or graphic of choice, for a really unique skin. You just have to email them with the request and they will tell you what they need from you in order to make you a custom skin. It only costs an extra $5.00 (USA) for this, too, which is quite reasonable, I think.

I can go with that, Holly. I'll just tell him "my cybermates OakIris and KindleKitten recommend them" - should be enough justification for anyone! (I should say in his defence that it's not a case of getting his permission or anything - just that he doesn't have the extravagance gene, and I do.) A custom skin would be pretty amazing.

With the WA thing, I guess it's just what you're used to - my first instinct would be to see it as Western Australia because that's where I am. (Unless it was Seattle, of course.) Okay, off to flex my shopping muscles now - after all, it's rude not to when the Australian dollar is so strong!

This is the skin I have and I love it! It reminds me of painted tiles, which I'd have all over my house if money wasn't an issue. I'd love to see this design offered for the Nook too, without having to pay the $5 custom design fee.

Device: Kindle DX
Hi and Happy New Year from New Zealand everyone. I love reading these forums for advice, and after getting myself a Kindle DX (original) I now have some questions to ask about accessories.

Given the white frame of my DX, I am keen to get a skin to make the front about as Graphite as the current gen DX which may increase perceived contrast (I hope it will).

All the skins I've seen have front and back but I only want front! The back is a waste of time - why cover up that beautiful brushed metal???

Anyway does anyone know where I can get a front only decal because I don't want to pay more than I have to? Already I know I'm going to pay a lot of international shipping. Obviously it will need to be somewhere that can ship internationally.

Secondly, on the design aspect, I haven't seen a single decal online that I've liked! They are all far too busy and "showy" - I'd sooner have a plain black graphite one but can't find one plain enough? Any suggestions?

Further on the design aspect, is Matte worth paying the extra for?

Would love to hear your thoughts on who I should get a decal from. I don't mind paying a bit extra for quality Thanks!

you are not going to find anything that is front only, sorry. you can submit your own designs, and I believe there is an area that is solid color only, I have never checked it out.

welcome to the forums!

All those thinking of a DecalGirl skin - here's an incentive. They've announced on their Facebook page that they'll be posting a sale/discount announcement "tomorrow" - which means (I think - juggling time zones) Tuesday.

Now I just need to decide between Sacred and Blossoming Almond.
