Bluefire Reader allows you to read Overdrive library books on an iThing.
With some convolutions and use of third party browsers it might be possible to go through the entire process on the iThing, otherwise you need to check out the book on a PC and transfer/email the file to the iThing.

Presumably the Sony apps are only available in North America, as the store is?

Sent Sony an eMail asking them when we were going to see this app, if ever. Their response:

We will be more than glad to answer your question regarding the app for the iPhone, unfortunately in this case, we do not have an exact date on when the app will be release, but please keep checking on our store, once the app is release you will have see the news on our website.

The Sony Reader Store site has been updated to January. It has buttons for the iPhone and Android, but these are greyed out (for now I assume).

They are still doing the app for android, they just moved the release date for all apps until January, if I read that correctly.

No surprise. When they first announced the apps back in the summer, it was "coming in November...!"

I'm looking forward to the apps since I've giving up my last Sony this week, but still have a couple of hundred purchased books from their bookstore.

Eh, I'd rather them make sure everything works OK then have them release a halfbaked product so they can stick to their release date (if indeed that is the case).

Like Gloria Steinem. Still, it would be nice to have an online access to my Sony titles for those moments, while on a trip, I suddenly crave the one book I didn't load up before leaving.

I'm trying to ditch the netbook and restrict myself to an iPad on leisure trips. More access to online titles will make it easier.

I'm probably going to start throwing them in dropbox or some such.
