Well, there are a couple ways. One is to install the font hack

Now if jail breaking and hacking sound too scary for you, you can do a less scary mod which involves editing a simple text file. Note that less scary does not necessarily mean easier or less complicated, just less of a chance of something going terribly wrong.

While editing this file, you can change the horizontal margin so there's less wasted space on left and right.
