I love my iPad. I always thought I would want a USB port but now that my school admin has given me a password to the wifi network, I am just fine. I transfer stuff on the fly all the time using dropbox and it works beautifully. A camera would be nice, but is not a deal-breaker. I am very happy and not looking to upgrade for awhile.

Still, I love the finger interface, and can see myself using an iPad for photo and video editing -- IF ONLY -- the iPad apps could work with files that aren't located on the iPad....
Isn't there an app for that? Or rather, an apple service MobileMe... Never checked it out because it's not free and I'm not that desperate for having my files on the ipad, but you might check it out.

Have you looked at Dropbox? That should allow you to browse files on your PC or via the internet. There's an iPad app. Basically everything that's in your Dropbox folders gets shared automatically across all devices where you've got it installed.

If you sign up using the following link we both get a bit of free extra storage space, I think:

Dropbox is the killer app as far as mobility's concerned, for me.

Dropbox is indeed nice, but it's not what I'm talking about. I don't want to transfer files to the iPad, I want to access them FROM my iPad.
