Thanks for the clarification, Abqpete! I should've guessed the Sony website would have the spec wrong yet again. They don't even match the size of my 900 with cover (5 X .75 X 8.125) so not sure how Sony came up with those... I double-checked that I picked the right items. I just measured my 950 with the standard cover. It was 5.5 X .625 X 8 (similar to your numbers).

Abisha, I guess the main point is that the lighted covers adds about 1" extra width, and it will add a little extra weight.

I have had one in the past, and it was just too bulky for me. I have tiny hands. I bought the standard cover and a clip-on light. Plus, I can use the clip-on light with my other ereaders too. Other factors might be what size bag you store your reader in. Also how often do you think you'll use the light. If it's just on the bus, then maybe a clip-on would be fine.
Yeah, I share your sentiment. I definitely do not wish to have the added bulk and weight with me all the time. It looks like I'll just follow suit and buy the standard case and find a third-party clip-on light. Thanks Bookworm_girl, and everyone the rest of M.R..

Abisha, I suggest you search the forum for light recommendations. There are too many threads on that subject to count. I have two clip-on lights. A small flexible-neck Book Owl that I got in the check-out line at Borders ($10). I also have the eBook-Lite from Target ($20). I like them both. Just depends on your preference. Good luck!

For those that ordered from Datavis and got the wrong item, I just got notification from PayPal that a full refund has been posted...
