I never write nearly as much as I'd like to. But I'm very persistent!

A Rather Long Time Ago I read a bit by Robert Heinlein where he mentioned that writing was a monkey on his back. At first it was assuaged by short stories, later on by novellas, then, finally, could only stop bothering him in his dreams by him writing a novel.

I find that not writing doesn'/t bother me constantly, but it has affected my ability to sleep.

I don't write as much as I would like to.

I've only started trying to write fiction in the last couple of years, and I only get a chance to write during the late Fall and Winter. Even then I procrastinate as much as I can, and usually write from around 10am to 4pm.

I start by editing the previous days work, and on a normal day produce 1600-1800 new words. Once I get started, I usually work every day, five days a week, until I'm finished. The colder and snowier it is the more I write.

I know this feeling well. I've found using Google docs is a little less time consuming than emailing and multiple flash drives. Especially the "manage versions" feature of google docs. You can upload the same document each day, and even go back to previous versions if you want to. It only takes seconds, and I sleep well at night knowing my poor creative writing attempts are securely stored in the cloud.

I'm a big fan of Dropbox. You put files in a directory on your hard drive that sync automatically with the Dropbox site. I haven't used a flash drive or e-mailed myself a file in months.
