I bought one hardback book this weekend because I thought it was interesting, but it wasn't available online (yes, i check these things when I'm in the B&N). I also bought 4 ebooks during that visit, when I saw books that I was interesting in and found them online. Looking in Calibre, I bought 26 ebooks this month. Some are books that came out this month, some are books that became available as ebooks this month, some were books that were recommended to me and still others were books that had been out awhile, but I just noticed.

Yikes, a missing last chapter. Reminds me of when I used to rent movies and someone would tape over the last five minutes. Pretty much ruins everything. Graphic novels and things like that are definitely a good reason to still be buying print books...

...though I just had to have the Hunger Games trilogy in print.
Sorry that was a typo - it should have said 2009, not 1999.

I buy ebooks all the time. I still but DTBs for my son and daughter, they actually prefer to read from paper. The last DTBs I purchased were the The Hunger Games Trilogy this past Sunday for my daughter.

Webscriptions Oct, Nov, Dec, a bunch of months before that.
Maybe 3-5 DTPB since last Oct when I got my PEz.

Amazon used to sell me books but they don't seem to want my business.
Oh!and some of the Authors I used to read, don't want my custom neither.

E-books: most recent batch I actually went and paid for, 11 MultiFormat w/Fictionwise 50% off coupon in the last week of September. Got a giant chunk of Lawrence Watt-Evans' Ethshar series, completed the series of Nick Pollotta's Bureau 13 tie-in novels, some classic sf/fantasy collections of Fredric Brown, Judith Merrill, and Marion Zimmer Bradley, and a historical novel by Morgan Llywelyn.

And of course I download time-limited promo freebies almost indiscriminately.

Paper books:

Used - library book sale last Sunday. Filled a box full of mostly sf/fantasy paperbacks for 10 bucks, and I got the complete Oxford University Press A History of Royal Dutch Shell, all 3 volumes + appendix w/DVDs for another $8. Items were not ex-libris discards and were apparently donated by patrons, so in condition ranging from moderately-used to looking brand new.

New - Ordered 3 books (Terry Pratchett's latest, + 2 graphic novels) from Chapters on Sunday, which will not ship and for which I will not be charged until the pre-order item is ready. Received 4 books from previous pre-order, accordingly charged (Tanya Huff's latest + 2 in French translation + 1 graphic novel) from Chapters yesterday.

Last technical book I bought was Scott Pilgrim Volume 6, about a month ago.

Last novel I bought was probably The Girl Who Played With Fire back on June 26th.

I've not bought a non-academic paper book in ages. I think the last one is the Hyperion Cantos (4 books) like in 2004.

I've not bought an ebook (except one to BN by mistake). I'm still reading the tons of free ebooks I've downloaded.

I purchased the pbook (first time I've used that "word") "Girl with the Dragon tattoo" in early Sept for a car camping/hiking trip. I finished it on my new K3 in early Oct.

I bought an ebook (The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan - what can I say, I'm a sucker for young adult lit) from Kobo today with the 20% off coupon they have out. I bought another ebook from Kindle on Tuesday (All Clear by Connie Willis - and it's freaking awesome.) The last paper book I bought was in August - the last of the Hunger Games trilogy, because when I pre-ordered it (in April ) it was not yet available in ebook version.

Most of the books I read are from the library, whether it be in ebook or paper book form. I can't really afford books right now - I'm a poor, unemployed student. Yay.

I don't have a lot of money these days. I bought a couple of used books this last month at my local store - some used paperbacks for about $10 each last month - plus a couple of hardcovers from ebay/half/amazon.

I don't buy DRM'd ebooks. Especially not for the prices they seem to want (more than the price of a real book shipped via UPS).

I prefer ebooks to paperbacks, but not for a 200-400% price premium over a used paperback. And I still prefer hardcovers to ebooks - you can loan them, resell them, and there's no copy protection, and no need to charge them.

I love my nook, but I mainly use it for freebies, copyright expired stuff, and for darknet/homebrew ebook versions of my existing paperbacks and hardcovers, for portability reasons.

I bought ebooks on Thursday.

Looking back through ADE, I've bought between 10 and 20 ebooks each month since May (not counting free downloads). I think I need to slow my pace a bit...

The last pbook I bought was in September, and I felt guilty as anything when I purchased it! The last thing I need is more physical books!
