is that the sort of "coming away" that other people are talking about, and for which chapters will give a replacement unit?

Yup, that is exactly what my Kobo 1 button looked like before I patched it up.

Took my swiss army knife and lifted the blue rubber back to flush with the white housing. Then I ran a small bead of crazy glue along the side to keep it in place.

Turned out okay, should have been a little more patient with the glue application thou.

I would send a pic, but I gave my old Kobo to my bro-in-law.

yep, mine too! looks exactly like that.

thanks for the detail of how you fixed yours Dorian_Gray

I have lots of fine jewellery making tools which will be perfect to use to fix the blue button on my Kobo v1.4

Ah the joys of Araldite! I remember as a child watching father mix it up whenever repairs were needed

thanks sabredog

my DH is a very clever handy man - he has all sorts of fixatives .. you know for wood to plastic, plastic to metal, etc etc - I'm sure he'll have exactly the right kind of glue.

I know he has 2 diff kinds of Araldite .. he builds model planes.

@ sabredog: I'm not sure of the scale he uses, but they are big & they have engines with remote controls. He and his mates love nothing more than an all out with the wedgies.
I'm always pleased when he brings home a damaged model to show me where the wedgies won the battle!!!

What's "crazy glue"? Is it an actual brand name or just a generic term for a specific type of glue?

Brand name, but it's spelt 'Krazy' glue.

My "Replacement Kit" is on the way, mine looks the same. At least they replace it, I wouldn't glue it....

Does Kobo replace this outside of the 1 year warranty? I.e. do they accept that's unacceptable (my words) or is only covered by the 1 year? I was testing a Kobo again today and I really don't like the dpad at all, both feel and quality (or lack of).

Stodge--Kobo only began selling readers in May, so no one is outside of the warranty period yet.
