I wonder if it's a typo on the Sony US site.

Me, I just use a finger. The screen doesn't get all fingerprinty like those iPod screens.

Talking Another suggestion...........

Not that I'm mean or anything................

Most "Dime & Cent"/Poundland/really cheapo discount stores have, somewhere on their bulging shelves, a sort of technology section.

Things like pockets for ipods, strange little gadgets that obviously bombed in the market, lousy earphones, etc..
Almost alway,s in there, they will be selling cheap versions of stylii for ipod/pad, Nintendo, and what all other devices.... sometimes in a pack with little boxes for memory cards, brushes for something or other, screen covers, etc..
Usually plastic, probably only a bit dearer than a knitting needle (still the winner, I think) or pencil with eraser on top (remember those?!)

My husband and I do woodworking for a hobby, so my first thought was on how to use wood to replace the stylus should it break (or when it breaks).
There are 1/8" dowels available for pennies that fit perfectly, and the bottom can be shaped easily.
I think that's the way I'll go when the time comes.
Not that I've ever yet used the stylus in my short career as Sony ereader owner.

Cool

Well, getting even meaner, a small (8"-1ft) wooden kebab stick is exactly the right diameter - and can be painted/varnished.

Cut to length and put a funny head rubber on it !

Smile 1/8" Dowel rod works great!

Thanks to everyone's postings about the broken stylus. I replaced ours with a 1/8" dowel rod cut to 4 1/2" in length so it sticks out of the E-reader about 1/2" so you can grab it. Sanded one end to a blunt point and the other smooth. Works great!

Same happened to mine, and Sony were equally unhelpful.

However, I decided to fix it myself. Glueing the 2 pieces back together would be no good though, as it would be very weak to lateral force, and would break again very easily.

Instead, I drilled the plastic out of the metal tube, then used the same size drill to drill a 2-3mm depth hole in the plastic top. I then took a metal pin (cut down a steel nail), and used epoxy resin to glue the pin into the plastic part, and then into the metal tube.

It's now stronger than it was originally, and I've been using it for weeks with no problem. To be honest, if Sony had agreed to send a replacement it would have probably broken again anyway. As it is, this should last years.

It's only a 10 minute job, but you need a fairly fine drill bit and need to go easy on the drill speed.

Thumbs up Problem now solved ['less it's stuck inside !]

OR save yoself a lot of trouble and simply search for a post from Chris77586 - he has the answer, at a very reasonable price of $10 - an enthusiast helping other like-minded, I think.
Works on 650 or 350, I've got one and it's great.
