20,000 Leagues under the Sea, but ONLY the Walter James Miller or the Walter James Miller + Frederick Paul Walter translations. The original translation was a hideous hack job.

Jay Rubin's translation of many of Haruki Murakami's novels are superb. Not only does he understand Japanese, which Murakami writes in, he also understands the literaryness of the books.

As for German and Polish Irecommend Erik Simon as translator, Having Sapkowskis short stories in original (the witcher prequel books) and having read the german translation I think he does a unspeakably great job. gets the jokes and - am not sure how to say/explain it. he gets the "flow" or "flavour" every language has.
