For those waiting for The Clan of the Cave Bear, it's now available at the US Kindle store for $1.59. (and £1.16 at the UK Kindle Store)
The other books are $6.39 The Valley of Horses, The Mammoth Hunters, The Shelters of Stone, The Plains of Passage. Last edited by arcadata; 10-07-2010 at 09:24 AM. |

It's actually one part of the reason why I like the series (though the last one was a bit too much repeats). Naturally, it wasn't one person who did all those discoveries. And not all within one life-time. But the way Ayla does these discoveries is plausible and might be the way those things got discovered. Probably not once, but several times, by various groups, over a long period of time.

Now, now, she didn't invent the wheel yet, hasn't discovered writing and has yet to acquire a cat.
But thats what book 6 is for ![]() |

I'm pretty sure the books never described what the signal looked like. My imagination provided several possibilities. [crazy face] We're living in crude times.

I must say, more publishers should deliver books with this quality! I compared my version to the BoB version and there were only some minor differences where most of the mistakes were on my version...

By far the books I enjoyed more are the second and the first, in that order. But all gave me undiluted pleasure. The weaknesses are obvious and in a way charming. It looks like, having studied the primitives in depth, she also became didactically primitive.
I think that apart from the adventures, excitement of the hunts, explicit sex, amazing reconstructions and the like, the books bring a message of love for life and tolerance toward the different that are very positive and touching. |

now i'm going to have to go and re-read to see if i can figure out the signal because I vaguely remember mention it now that you say, but had forgotten all about it. Isn't it as obvious a signal as some unfortunate adolescent boys have when an attractive female walks past which means they have to stay sitting down until they calm down a bit?
