Good for her. I got a Droid X a few weeks ago and it's great for reading on except in direct sunlight.

Wait....there's a flash between pages?!? This changes everything....What if my eyes start to hurt, all that sudden bright light must be hard on the eyes.

Give it a few days and it's hardly noticeable anymore. I actually was reading an old paperback the other day and got confused when it didn't flash after I dragged my finger across the page.

I was a bit put off by the screen flash at first but now I actually like it! I wouldn't be so happy if my reader didn't flash on a page turn. I had the opportunity to try an e-reader that didn't flash the when turning a page and I found it harder to tell when the page had actually turned. I would read the first word of the page until it changed, which kind of broke the flow of the story. With the page flash its is very obvious when the page is ready for me to continue reading. Its a subtle difference, but I really feel the story flows better with the screen flash.

It's all a marketing ploy, the flash is really sending subliminal messages to buy another Kindle.
