Uh, no. And lots of maybe's and if's in there. The most flexible reading platform available would be my desktop (or netbook) windows PC. |

Also think about this: It is the opinion of most experts that the Apple books will (because of their deal with publishers) be more expensive than Kindle books (although some Kindle books are getting more spendy for the same reason). If you owned a bookstore, would you let your cheaper competitor open another store inside yours? Because that is what Apple would be doing. We shall see and I hope I am wrong. Other web commentary on the subject: Comment #1 Comment #2 The point on the Justice dept. in the second article is well taken and may help us out. Last edited by CCDMan; 03-23-2010 at 11:07 AM. |

Ceci Tuera Cela
In the face of all the recent “ceci tuera cela” arguments (Kindle killing, iPad failing kind of stuff), this seems to me the most reasonable and predictable accommodation, both companies falling back to what they are better in: Amazon selling books (no matter on whose device), Apple selling hardware (no matter whose book).
Isn't it? |

In the recent iPad commercial, some eagle eyed folks spotted some book prices.
Ted Kennedy's True Compass - $14.99 (iBooks) vs $19.25 (Kindle) Three Cups of Tea - $7.99 (iBooks) vs $7.50(Kindle) |

The app reads books. Apple has an app which reads books. If Apple want to, then the justification is there. Trying to call it at this stage is futile. Quote:

What??? Neither of those statements make any real sense and certainly don't serve to support the earlier statements. Dang! There I go agreeing with DF again. |

No, the actual assumption I refered to. (That Kindle users "are consumers with money and who buy lots of books")
It's been discussed on here before, and well... Also, you're reaching. Apple do what they want and justify it. Their completely inconsistent handling of the App store shows that. We just don't know yet, to claim otherwise is silly given their past behaviour. |

And why wouldn't they want to secure content for their device? Why wouldn't they leverage publishers' discontent with the Amazon situation to their advantage? But none of this is driven from a desire to be 'in' the ebook business - this is all about driving hardware sales by making the device more appealing, more indispensable, to as many people as possible. It's basic business, that's all. Cheers, Pete. |

the kindle app for itouch I think is the sme as the iphone one and is available at the app store.
I for one am very happy for the kindle app. I was never happy with buying books from the sony store, it is dissorganized and missing alot of books, so I have been using the kindle app and calibre to put the books on my sony reader, much better!! Now I will continue to do the same with my ipad next week when it arrives!! |

@abrey: Yeah, look for "kindle" in the app name, not amazon.
