The mercury was ingested; the lemon, dung and pebbles were...ahem...inserted and the animals intestines worn. All to achieve the same aim with, presumably, mixed results.

I'm so happy I got that! I'm usually tremendously thick at these things. And I didn't cheat or anything (unless checking after the fact whether my answer was correct is considered cheating).
