Huh. Here the wildlife issue with bird feeders is bears. Fish & Game has a cutoff date for feeders of April 1 which is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. And ignored to their regret by people who end up posting to Facebook pictures of their former feeders post bear.

That is one of the reasons that I keep the hummingbird feeders hanging from the outer edge of the eave over the balcony. We have had a few bears come through the complex including one that did a great job of shredding the doors on the recycle bins probably attracted by the organic recycling and another who when neighbours left a couple of bags of groceries in their van overnight prompted the bear to try their paws at breaking and eating.
