I may be an outlier, but I liked the first one as well as the others. If I hadn't liked the first one, I wouldn't have persevered

I definitely liked the first one. It was a bit different than the subsequent ones but the whole series is great. It's one of my top 5 series.

There's a new book for the series that's due out soon. That's probably why this one was discounted; priming the pump so to speak.
