To be fair, it could have been a non-fiction book about the literary form.

But the point of a pithy title is lost when a subtitle is added, even a short one.

Well, the cover titles just "The Novel"; thought the explained title is put by Amazon, and followed by Goodreads (but imho).

That's actually one of those rare situations where "a Novel" gives useful info! Because if I saw a book titled simply "The Novel", I'd think it was a non-fiction book about the history of novels!

When a murder mystery is so full of interesting historical details that I have to spend almost as much time on Wikipedia reading up on various tidbits as I spend reading the book.

(This is not meant as a serious rant, of course, but if it goes on in the subsequent books of the series, I'll never be able to finish the series. There are over 20 books.)

More of the same for me.

General idiocies resulting mostly from carelessness. There isn't a "Duchess of Wessex" (from a book about war memorials). Obviously I know whom is meant, but that has never been her title. Similarly, President Kennedy's mother's name wasn't "Rose Fitzpatrick Kennedy", and that's from a book I like a lot, alas.

Vocabulary. "Fulsome" doesn't mean "fully". Also from the war memorial book, which is rife with similar errors such as this and the one above.

And, my perennial. A duke's younger son is a Lord, not an Honourable!

My only rant is about a quick visit on a library shop, inside a shopping centre; it seems like on those large places it would be possible to find anything, instead often it comes like searching a can opener on a supermarket.
Not a problem as I do have the one I search on my bookmarks, but looking at the ones that teaches how to properly make bread at home, there were like 5 only, none of them on sourdough. To me it seemed cheapie, to pretend not to have a proper book about the most "simple" kind of baking.
Contrariwise at least I'd find a nice one on cat's science (their history, also the book is mainly focused on them behaviour, gestures and relations' foundamentals).

Great, exactly: I did kept it for years, time ago, now the one I keep has quite one year, and always maintained it "just like that", having a care for the floor's quality only. Thought the results has never been any alveolus bread (despite being soft, very good, etc..).
The recipes from brewer's yeast have not the same timings, so I don't mind buying a book which I have to convert in practises.
That's also the most beatiful thing, even having a proper recipe book for the sourdough, it won't never be ecxact, without paying attentions to the several variables that might affect it. But also knowing what some terms means would be fine (lamination, stringing, dressing, reinforcement pleats, "pirlatura"), and using the techniques.
