I believe all of the stories in that book are in the public domain. You can read them on your own, and make your own ebook. Of course, you'll be missing the introduction by the "editor".

Also available from Kobo: The Darwath Series 1-3. Free with Kobo Plus.

For purchasing, $2.99 Cdn is a bit less than $2.99 US.

Not really of interest to me since I already have those 3 books but haven't seen 4 & 5 on sale. Though #5 Ice Falcon's Quest would have to drop a lot to tempt me -- $21.99 Cdn is well above what I will pay for an ebook.

Although it's not really sci-fi/fantasy, Crichton has some bleed over, so I figured I'd mention that Airframe is on sale at Amazon for $2.99. I haven't read it since I got it back in 1996, but I remember it being good.

The Black Elfstone by Terry Brooks is $1.99 at Amazon US. It is book... 30-something in the never-ending Shanarra cashcow. The first in a (surprise) series called The Fall of Shannara.

Quote:
The first book of the triumphant and epic four-part conclusion to the Shannara series, from one of the all-time masters of fantasy.

Across the Four Lands, peace has reigned for generations. But now, in the far north, an unknown enemy is massing. More troubling than the carnage is the strange and wondrous power wielded by the attackers—a breed of magic unfamiliar even to the Druid order. Fearing the worst, the High Druid dispatches a diplomatic party under the protection of the order’s sworn guardian, Dar Leah, to confront the mysterious, encroaching force and discover its purpose.

But another crucial journey is being undertaken. Exiled onetime High Druid Drisker Arc has been living in quiet seclusion, far from the politics and power struggles of his former life, until two brutal attacks by would-be assassins force him to seek out an infamous murder-for-hire guild—and find the hidden enemy who has marked him for death. At his side is Tarsha Kaynin, a young woman gifted with the wishsong and eager to be schooled in its formidable power by a master. She, too, is pursuing a mission: to locate her wayward brother, whose own magic has driven him to deadly madness and kindled his rage for vengeance . . . against his sister.

In their darkest hours, facing dangerous adversaries, the lives and quests of Dar Leah, Drisker Arc, and Tarsha Kaynin will be inextricably drawn together. And the challenges each confronts will have resounding consequences for the future of the Four Lands.

Darkover first anthologies

On Kobo, both US and EU, the first anthologies (1-10 and 12) are free. Not so on Amazon, where these books do not exist as ebooks. Strange, but is that a problem ?
I am pretty sure I looked for these books in the past, so I do not know what has changed recently.

These are the links on Kobo US.

https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/snows-of-darkover-1
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/towers-of-darkover-1

https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-keeper-s-price-1

The only one which costs .99 € is
Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover (Darkover anthology Book 11)
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/mar...y-s-darkover-1

Generically you can search for "Darkover Anthology".

Enjoy

Moonseed by Stephen Baxter is $3.99 at Amazon US. This is billed as the third in the NASA trilogy. But the books (Voyage, Titan and Moonseed) are all unrelated stand-alones with different characters and different realities. The only link they have is they deal with themes of space exploration.

Quote:
It Eats Planets. And It's Here.
It starts when Venus explodes into a brilliant cloud of dust and debris, showering Earth with radiation and bizarre particles that wipe out all the crops and half the life in the oceans, and fry the ozone layer. Days later, a few specks of moon rock kicked up from the last Apollo mission fall upon a lava crag in Scotland. That's all it takes...

Suddenly, the ground itself begins melting into pools of dust that grow larger every day. For what has demolished Venus, and now threatens Earth itself, is part machine, part life-form: a nano-virus, dubbed Moonseed, that attacks planets.

Four scientists are all that stand between Moonseed and Earth's extinction, four brilliant minds that must race to cut off the virus and save what's left of Earth--a pulse-stopping battle for discovery that will lead them from the Earth's inner core to a daredevil Moon voyage that could save, or damn, us all.

They appear to be free on Kobo UK as well. Not sure I want them, given what we now know about MZB, but they aren't generally by her. I got rid of my Darkover books long ago, finding them a bit meh even in the 1980s.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by “given what we know about MZB”?

I apologize if I implicitly stated that the books were from her, there are maybe a few stories from her in these books. Nonetheless they may make a nice reading for somebody.

I've sent a PM. No point in another creator/creations discussion here.

If - like me - you find the world an overly politicized and absurd place in which to live, then you might wish to download the FREE four issues of Feast of Laughter, a literary magazine devoted to studies, essays, and fiction of R.A. Lafferty.

Here's the link for those bold enough to throw off the shackles of boring descriptions and who wish to enter a world where the strange and the unusual are taken for granted.

http://www.feastoflaughter.org/

Be bold, O! Brave Man ... (or) ... Woman, for know verily that these downloads are available only as PDF files. For there be new worlds to conquer and new places to investigate even as a new sun riseth in the sky and shine truly upon your bald pate - but only after you've done the laundry, dusted, vacuumed, washed the dishes, and paid the bills.

* I am not affiliated with the magazine.

It's the first book in the final series. Brooks is concluding the series timeline - final book was originally scheduled to be released in July but now in October. That's probably why the discount. Yes he might have more books in Shannara world, but they won't be past this timeline end.
