Look at floor lights. Once I move in with my sister we'll go looking for a bigger place. In her current apartment I'll have a tiny room, with not much space. I hope in the next place I'll have a big enough bedroom for cross stitching nook. With a comfy chair (I've already got one), an embroidery floor stand and I'll need a good light fixture. So I'm already looking at what's available.

I have a friend obsessed with cross-stitch. She also has a little nook setup, comfy chair, lamp, work stand with various magnetic clip things and a tablet mount for watching tutorials on. And a little mini filing cabinet full of hundreds of different colour thread all numbered.

I must admit, it does look like a rather relaxing hobby.

Home made cinnamon rolls better.

(Especially with dried cherries, Sugar In The Raw sugar, and real vanilla. They also freeze well. Freeze them solid and ship Express Mail.)

Not feeling very motivated this morning. It's the day before King's Day, which means it'll be a weird but quiet day in the store. We mostly sell extension cords and light bulbs for outdoor string lights today. Hopefully my father has finished the pricing list of the shipment that came in yesterday, so I have something to do.

Tonight is King's Night, which means there's a big stage on the nearby square with live music from 7 pm until 1 am. Which is audible in the whole house, but especially at the back, where the bedrooms are. So tonight I'll be watching loud music and probably aggressively cross stitching.

Tomorrow the store's closed, so I can sleep in. Then there's live music again from 1 pm until 7 pm. I'm planning on making some jewelry with new supplies I got recently.

These days my noise cancelling headphones are my friend, though they won't be able to block out all the noise.

Active noise cancelling headphones definitely help a little. If you don't want the distraction of music, I find adding a little "white noise" helps drown out background noise a little further. Rain, waves crashing against the shore, woodland sounds, babbling brook... even an industrial hum.

I've found this most useful on noisy public transport when attempting to read.

For tonight I had planned to watch some, hopefully, loud action movies. For tomorrow I was going to listen to symphonic metal.

However, the music started 45 minutes ago, and it isn't that loud. A distant rumble. Not enough to use my noise cancelling headphones, though they are charged and ready if the volume goes up.

I have a white noise app on my phone I use occasionally, called White Noise. It's got a lot of white noise sounds, but you can also make you're own by combining several. The sounds are looped but you don't hear the loop, which my brain likes (otherwise I wouldn't fall asleep, I would just be listening to the loop).

The sound of rain is a little magical, especially if you can hear it whilst remaining dry. Super peaceful when cosy in a tent.

I'm drinking a freshly ground coffee watching an open fire whilst waiting for my morning brain to gradually come to life.
