I think a day pass is over £5, but I don't often go to London so I can't remember!

I like walking in cities.
I always walk to town to do my shopping but take the bus back because I will have heavy bags.

I do like walking (luckily) but even with shopping I now walk home - carried 10 library books back last week.

Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of hills in Bristol. Doesn't matter which direction I go in it's always up hill

Vancouver has 3 different fares for all transit including transfers between buses, skytrains and municipal water ferries, depending on how far you travel.

Weekdays:
  • 1 Zone $2.50
  • 2 Zone $3.75
  • 3 Zone $5.00
Weedends and Holidays:
  • All Zones $2.50
So a commute to downtown from Zone 3 would cost $10.00 return daily. A lot of companies have payroll deduction for passes, which are then slightly cheaper.

Buses take exact fares only or tickets.

You're not in the Totterdown area of Bristol? I had a friend who lived there and the hills are memorable, especially when it's icy.

Other side of the city, which is mostly not quite as bad - as long as you have a very reliable handbrake you can park on my road. I have seen streets in Totterdown where people use lamp posts to park against, and one street which I believe is impossible to cycle up (especially with shopping on the back of my bike) as you'd be in danger of tipping over backwards, if you could keep moving!

wow, that's crazy too. here, if you need a métro pass to get to work, your employer will subsidize it. i believe they pay half, if memory serves. i obviously no longer get this benefit, as i am self-employed (or, depending on your perspective, my employer now pays ALL my transit fares ! ), but since i work at home i technically no longer need it either.

Alright, this is INSANE!!

I called Toshiba to find out whether or not I could order some wafer head case screws for my neighbor's laptop (she is missing about 9 of them). Their "bulk" quote was $12.00 PER SCREW!! Individual screws were $33.00 each!

So, I went online and found the exact same screws for 25 cents each. I mean really .... who does Toshiba think they are kidding?? I've heard of profit margins, but that is just plain NUTS!
