I just wrote an essay that, now that it's done, I don't know if I want to release it.

It addresses the adversarial and contentious efforts of web denizens to help develop the digital document age, and whether the trends and buzzwords common to the arguments... ie, economy, piracy, copyright, entitlement, etc, etc... are actually smokescreens to a bigger and more serious psychological/sociological issue.

Part of the reason I'm not sure I want to release it is, itself, the contentious nature of the e-book industry, and its tendency to tear into any comments (such as these) with reckless and inconsiderate abandon. I'm just not sure I want the grief...

Anonymous ?

would be a shame after the effort of writing it, that it won't be issued ...

Drink some tea, then give it a hard look, Steve.

You're usually a reasonable guy - I'm hoping your recent tirades are an aberration, and you can and will write a rational, balanced look at the issues.

Without condescension or being overly defensive.

Working on a ghost-writing project - conspiracy theory and the Vietnam war ... and revising "Heart of a Dragon," second in the DeChance Chronicles (the first one, Vintage Soul, came out in HC this past December).

I decided to put the aforementioned essay up on my site... since almost no one ever reads what I put on my site, and out of those, no one ever comments on any of it.

A good decision because it's an essay well worth reading. My only question is, how is the debate is taken forward without getting bogged in the moribund and unhelpful dialogues you so eloquently describe. Not sure I like the idea of having a webcam pointing at me before I'm entitled to speak, but I can see where you are coming from in suggesting it.
