My favorite skin design is "Milky Way" and I ordered one few days ago.
After receiving I will only put the skin on the front and not on the back side cause I kept my Scribe in a cover and with the skin on the frontside my Scribe will be perfect for me.

These are my sleeve and cover for the Scribe therefore I have to have the "Milky Way" skin from DecalGirl. The design of the skin will be perfect for my very personal Scribe

That's a nice cover. Where did you get that from? Btw, do you use a cover with skin at the same time, wouldn't they interfere with each other?

no issues with using this skin. i have the amazon cover and it still attaches to the magnets fine. the sleep/wake feature also works without issue.

Fintie Cover Kindle Scribe

Depending where you are located, may be you can order it also at Amazon in your country. As I had a look for covers at this time mine came from Amazon US, storage Wisconsin, and need a bit till getting it. But I received it 12 days earlier as announced.

Years ago I create my own skin with my avatar picture for a Kobo Forma at DecalGirl and there was no issue with an original Kobo cover, cause the skins from DecalGirl are thin.
For the Scribe I will only the use the front skin as written above.
How it works at the Scribe and the third party cover from Fintie, I will see.
I think and I'm pretty sure there will be no issue.

Kindle Scribe 14% off today. I went ahead and did a 20% device trade in for my useless DX.
Wasn't sure if I was going to wade in with this model but the price made the decision easier.

I suggest you look for your next case as your Finte case is going to wear out long before it should. Finte are rather cheaply made.

Or they may find, as I have personally, that after 38 months of almost daily use their Fintie case is in 90% condition, if not better. I have had several Fintie cases over several Kindle models and been completely happy with each. I find them better than many others that use some origami folding scheme to create a stand for upright reading. None of those hold the Kindle perfectly level. The Fintie easel stand does a perfect job. And it's Fintie, not Finte. If you're going to hate on it potentially underservedly you might at least do it with the correct name. I don't have a Fintie for my Scribe as the Amazon case is significantly better than prior offerings and does an acceptable job. I may have to reconsider though, seeing the great looking starry sky Fintie.

Did you get Premium Pen?

I have no interest in Notebooks, or even Sticky Notes, so probably could get by with 16GB/Basic Pen. With the 20% that's only about $234. And if I trade in my Oasis (which I have never bonded with) up to $75 more. And if I don't like it (or end up not ordering), I'm $75 to the good.

I think I've talked myself into this.

Yes. I got the 16GB/Premium Pen with the Denim fabric cover.
I kept my Oasis, which I love. Not worth it to me what they were offering.
I get the same 20% with my DX.

I love my Scribe, but I'm a little cheesed off it is now so much cheaper - it seems very soon for the prices to be slashed. I wonder if it is a tactical move to try to eliminate the competition.

I am curious to see whether any improvements will be made to the software - I can't help but feel pessimistic about this, given the kindle's rate of software 'improvements' over the last twelve years. Another thing that makes me pessimistic about the likelihood of imminent software improvements is the fact that the kindle enthusiast, Jeff Bezels (just my little joke) is no longer involved with any of the day to day running of amazon.

Whatever happens, I still love my device, just been doing the Times cryptic crossword on it.

But part of me wonders whether the whole Kindle program will start to be mothballed, maybe this is its last gasp?

Sorry to spread this negativity. I repeat, I love my Scribe. Whatever happens, I am happy with it as a device. Even if it goes the way of the Amazon Phone.

I think I only paid $120 for my Oasis ('renewed'), so yeah, I'm out $50 on my experience.

For me, the design just does not work: it is so uncomfortable to handle, my hands tense up when I just look at it (I tried some mitigations, but they fell short).

Worth getting rid of it to get a Scribe for less than $185, and see what it's like to read on.

I have other Kindles I could have traded in, but I don't dislike them as much and they would not have contributed nearly as much in terms of the gift card.

At least at this point (I just ordered one), I'm dispassionate about whether the Notebook features improve, as I don't see myself using those. It's too much of a closed system, even if it improves. But they are obviously going to have to do some updates to get it up to par with the competition. And they have even stated specific features are on the way.

But as far as reading features go, I'd like to see them add Print Replica support and ability to have 2 columns when in Landscape orientation. I doubt they will, and it is not a big deal if they don't. And why can't you use the 'Pen' to select and highlight text as you can with a finger or capacitative stylus? (e.g. some option to turn off Sticky Notes, or some such)

I've been predicting the death of Kindle for years, but here we are.
