Apologies, I didn't understand that you had tags assigned.
![]() That's strange. Especially since you have delete empty collections checked; I would have expected them to have gotten wiped entirely instead of leaving a bunch of empty ones. |

If I can't get it sorted tomorrow, I'm going to start deleting books in chunks and add them back. As mentioned, I haven't added any 'new' books to my Kobo since the meltdown. But I strongly suspect adding new books will get them sorted into collections.
I have 4,000+ books on there and I use Extended to convert them to kepub, which is wonderful but slow. So it won't be fun. Thing is, I rarely use collections (or series for that matter). But it will annoy me to no end that they aren't working as expected. Edit: I added Heinlein's Orphans of the Sky. It shows up in my Science Fiction collection, giving me a whopping 1 book in that collection! Last edited by ZodWallop; 02-22-2022 at 11:05 PM. |

Hmm, I'm thinking -- is Calibre still recognizing your Kobo as the same device? After my Aura HD reset itself, I had to re-add the device in a few config dialogs or some of the plugins failed to detect it - Kobo Utilities and Reading List specifically.
I don't know that the KoboTouch/KTE driver has device-specific settings though, which is where this falls apart. |

@ZodWallop have you tried 'resetting' your collections? Disable Collections from Kobo Extended plugin, upload metadata, then Delete empty shelves via the Kobo Utilities plugin (and if that doesn't work, do that manually). Sync to your Kobo account and see if they've been deleted there too (if they haven't or if there are some left over, delete them manually - I've done that before through the Android app). Then, re-enable collections on the Kobo Extended plugin and upload metadata. If anything it should still take less than resending all your books over.

Just to clarify, are we talking about an issue with the way firmware 31 manages the Kobo database, or an issue with firmware 31 interacting with calibre?

I have to reset the device association for both of these plugins every time the device gets reset. And then reassign the profile in both plugins to the device.

But if I knew I was going to post so much about it, I would have started a different thread. I thought I was missing some simple, obvious thing. |

But how do I reset the device association in the plug-ins? I didn't see a place to do that. |

I have to admit, I have had at least one case on this firmware of the Kobo not registering the presence of new books until after a reboot.

There is a option in the configuration for the Kobo Utilities plugin where you can set up devices on the Profiles tab. Personally, I just leave it at the Default profile and *Any Device.

But if I left it as *Any Device then I wouldn't have to reset it to match my reset Kobo, would I? Anyway, since I'm working from home, I just reloaded all the books on my Kobo, in groups of 400 at a time. I'm down to my last 1,200. |

Incidentally, 4.31 seems to be a real disaster. And Kobo used to have a reputation for buggy software.
But I will say, most of the bugginess seems to have fallen by the wayside. Let's hope 4.31 is an aberration. |
