The timing on this new device is pretty good. I have actually been doing more reading on my iPad Air using Marvin than any of my ereader devices. Part of that decision has been around the Marvin app. For the last couple of months, I have wanted to get back to the ereader experience vs. the iPad/tablet experience but I wanted a larger screen. I have even been in the market for an iPad mini as I feel that is the "perfect'" size.

QUESTION for anyone willing to weigh in: lot of specs about the device itself but do we have any idea about the Kobo interface? I have an Aura purchased here a few years ago from someone on MobileRead and I haven't been overly impressed by the interface. Any thoughts on this new device's interface beyond the Overdrive new feature. Thanks!

I'd be shocked if it's very much different from the current firmware. Kobo has almost always used a "unified" firmware where things are pretty much identical between devices. There have been exceptions, but usually minor differences. If you're not using the current firmware on the Aura then there might be some differences with the current firmware. Things have evolved/changed over time with the interface.

This interface looks pretty much the same as the current devices...

i couldn't agree more i love mine too, i would have wanted the new Kobo Aura Edition 2 to have had a better screen but still flush, and to have also kept the light button as they have the micro SD card slot, and would have liked Kobo to have added physical page buttons on both sides similar to the Kindle voyage and to have doubled the internal memory to 8GB, that would have been the winning formula for me.

Very interesting to listen to Tamblyn's video. It's very clear that they developed this specifically to appeal to the heavy, heavy reader so they are obviously planning to make their money from this on selling books rather than the device itself.

I so read this part wrong.
Oh you mean heavy, heavy as in reads a ton of books a year not that they read big books.

It would probably help them too as with the increase in screen real estate they won't have to turn as many pages to get through their really big books.
