Same here.. I ordered the one without special offers around 2pm ET and it still says "Delivery date pending." Unfortunately, I really want that Merlot cover so if I were to cancel and reorder now it wouldn't arrive until July 7. They better not be sending us ad-free folks to the end of the line!

I've noticed a couple of comments about how the Voyage is difficult to remove from the oragami case. It literally takes a bout 1/2 a second if you just put your thumb on the bottom edge of the Voyage and push up. It slides right out the top of the oragami case. I always remove it to read when I'm at home and put it back when I'm done.

The Oasis has no appeal for me, but I hope those who buy one enjoy it.

I don't know if this has been pointed out (this thread is moving fast), but the LEDs are now on the (fat) side pointing horizontally instead of the bottom pointing up. Since the kindle is longer than wide, more LEDs are needed. This is looking at portrait orientation of course.

The interesting thing is the lights (or maybe more accurately, light guides) now have a shorter distance to cover, which means we should have marginally better uniformity. Recall there were complaints that the voyage had different tones at the bottom and top. Personally, I think post paper white 1, the front light on all the kindle are "good enough" to be non issue. But there it is.

The Kindle Oasis reminds me of the Amazon Fire Phone.

There will be a lot of buzz and hype for this device, but very few customers will buy this device just because of a few extra features.

The only way Kindle Oasis is successful is Amazon stop selling the Voyager and other Kindle readers and force everybody to buy the Oasis.

I think it will do alright. It won't have Paperwhite-like numbers but I don't think the Voyage ever will either. And remember, these Kindles almost always go down in price after the first big run is over.

They repackaged the Voyage and boosted the price.

I remember the last two eink Nooks B&N released and how they were met with lukewarm praise. At least both of them had actual upgraded parts. This? This is rehashing design but not adding anything new. And it's charging customers a premium for that redesign.

We don't know what Amazon would consider successful for a device like this. We do know that people ordering now are having their ship dates listed as further and further out as things go on so they at least seem to be getting a number of orders.

I am glad I got the Paperwhite 3 on sale. The Oasis is way too expensive, and I don't like the tapered design. Having 10 leds might be a great thing, but I won't pay that price.

Apparently only 1.
Since everyone else is having to wait.
Probably less than some people are guessing on the pre-order cancelling.
If it wasn't for price and lack of a need, I would buy one.

Now why would Amazon just move the date? I know a dozen people have posted they pre-ordered one. And that is just out of 100 posters here. And this is a small forum.

So I think there is more interest than the naysayers are thinking.

For whatever its worth, for those frustrated by the delays in pre-ordering, in past years, some retail stores, Best Buys in particular, usually get a handful of stock on release day (typically 2-3 units per store). It is worth checking stock online, and or calling around on release day, as you may get lucky. I snagged both the first Paperwhite and the Voyage in this manner with little difficulty. The only downside, is that I would bet that they might only receive units with black cases. Amazon often limits the more exotic case colors to online sales only.
