Kneading to Die is the first in the two book Kristan Connor series by Liz Mugavero. Per SYKM, it was a finalist for the 2013 Agatha Award for Best First Novel. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AY48QUS

Spoiler:
Quote:
Maybe the best thing that ever happened to Kristan "Stan" Connor was losing her high-stress public relations job. Now there's plenty of time to spend in her sleepy new Connecticut town working on her dream: baking healthy, organic pet treats!

Before long the neighborhood dogs are escaping their yards to show up at Stan's doorstep, begging for the kinds of special homemade treats her Maine coon cat Nutty loves so much. And Stan's pet-loving neighbors are thrilled with the new organic options available to their furry family members. But not everyone loves Stan and her newfangled organic ways. . .

It seems Carole Morganwick, the town vet, is from the old school of pet care. But when Stan swallows her pride and brings a very unwilling Nutty in for a checkup, she not only finds Carole dead under a pile of kibble. . .but also that she's in the dog house as the prime suspect! Finding the real killer and clearing her name will require some seriously surreptitious sniffing around. . .and hopefully, curiosity won't kill this innocent cat!

Includes Gourmet Pet Food Recipes!

"Like the goodies Stan makes for her Maine coon kitty Nutty, Kneading To Die is a treat! Liz Mugavero weaves animal knowledge into a fun and frisky whodunit, with plenty of lively pet action." --Clea Simon, author of Cats Can't Shoot

The first two books in the romantic-thriller-ish looking Maggie Riley/Cole Thatcher series by Christine Kling are Kindle US Daily Deals today, at $1.99.

Circle of Bones is the first in the series.
link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091TMC66/
Spoiler:
Quote:
Sex and adventure meet history and intrigue in this breathless nautical thriller that spans decades to imagine a fascinating answer to the real-life mystery of the vanished French sub, Surcouf.

When Maggie Riley sets sail for the Caribbean, all she wants is a little R&R before starting a work assignment in Dominica.

The last thing Maggie expects is to rescue Cole Thatcher, a sexy—but possibly nuts—conspiracy-spouting archaeologist found swimming nude off the island of Guadeloupe. It turns out Cole is searching for the wreckage of a vanished World War II submarine, claiming it holds millions in gold coins and classified documents from a powerful inner circle of the secret society Skull and Bones.

Maggie has enough skeletons to deal with. But when she learns her own past may intersect this inner circle of Bonesmen, she realizes Cole might not be so crazy after all—and joining him in the search for the sub may be her only course to uncover a hidden truth.

Dragon's Triangle is the second in the series.

Spoiler:
Quote:
Maggie Riley has settled into her new life in Thailand, working aboard her sailboat and doing her best to leave the past behind. When she receives a letter from a World War II vet claiming to have served with her grandfather who went missing in action, Riley is once again pulled into the intrigue that tore her family apart and led to the disappearance of her former search partner—and the love of her life.

Armed with the secret code her grandfather left behind, Riley must head to the Philippines to hunt for a mysterious shipwreck, uncover the truth of Yamashita’s gold, and find the answers to old questions about her own family.

An omnibus of three titles in the Jack Daniels Series by JA Konrath is free right now at Kindle US. The titles are:
  • Dirty Martini, #4
  • Fuzzy Navel, #5
  • Cherry Bomb, #6
link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BAXT2UU/
Spoiler:
Quote:
This is a specially priced box set of three novels in the Jack Daniels thriller series (#4, #5, #6).

D I R T Y M A R T I N I

In Whiskey Sour, Chicago police Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels hunted down a killer dubbed "The Gingerbread Man."

In Bloody Mary, she busted a psychopath with a penchant for dismemberment.

In Rusty Nail, it was a serial killer with a doozy of a family tree.

And now, in Dirty Martini, Jack faces her toughest adversary yet: a sicko who's poisoning the city's food supply. But that's just the start of what he has planned, because he's aiming to kill fifty thousand people in the single biggest act of terrorism the US has ever seen. Can she stop him — and decide whether to accept boyfriend Latham's surprise proposal — without destroying both her reputation and her sanity?

Join Jack, her partner Herb, and her nemesis Harry McGlade, for her fourth, and greatest, case so far.

F U Z Z Y N A V E L

Things are going well for Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels of the Chicago Police Department. She has solved some of the city's toughest and most high-profile homicides. Her personal life is finally in order. Her friends and family are safe and happy. And she just got a call that eased her mind like nothing else could: Alex Kork, one of the most dangerous criminals Jack ever arrested, killed herself while in jail.

But things sour quickly when a group of vigilantes on a murderous spree decide to take down a cop and the people she cares about ... and they turn downright awful when Jack discovers that Kork may not be dead after all.

Trapped in her house with a psycho and everyone she cares about, and unable to leave because she's surrounded by snipers, the next eight hours will be the worst of Jack's life. And that's saying something.

Fuzzy Navel is Jack's fifth adventure, perfect for readers who like their mysteries with a shot of humor.

C H E R R Y B O M B

At the end of Fuzzy Navel, J. A. Konrath surprised readers with an agonizing cliffhanger: One of Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels's loved ones is dead. But who? Readers were left clamoring to know more.

Cherry Bomb, the sixth Jack Daniels mystery, opens at the funeral. While Jack stands graveside, tears in her eyes, her cell phone rings. It's the killer, escaped maniac Alex Kork, taunting Jack, drawing her ever further into a twisted game of cat and mouse. Because while Alex is more than willing to kill random victims, Jack is her true prey. But which woman wants revenge more?

Cherry Bomb is J. A. Konrath's most gripping novel of suspense yet—filled with twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Seven people, marked for death, not for what they know, but for what they are...

THE LIST by JA Konrath
History is about to repeat itself

Book Description:

THE LIST is a bit of a departure for Konrath. It's a technothriller about a group of ten people who each have tattoos of numbers on the bottoms their feet, and don't know why.

One of them, a Chicago Homicide cop named Tom Mankowski, has had one of these strange tattoos since birth. When he investigates a violent murder and discovers the victim also has a tattooed number, it sets the ball rolling for an adventure of historic proportions.

To say more would give away too much.

Like the Jack Daniels series, THE LIST combines laugh out loud humor with serious suspense and thrills.

THE LIST is approximately 82,000 words long, and is specially formatted for Kindle with an active table of contents.

Here is an image of a box, for anyone who may not know what one looks like, or for anyone who may be confused. A box is most often used to put something into it. Many people have boxes at home, although some households may never have seen a box, let alone used one. I often see many boxes at the local grocery store. Boxes there are used to house my favorite beverage, beer. Sometimes, books are put into boxes, but a box is never put into a book. This is considered an act verging on poor taste.

A bunch of titles in the Ellie Avery/Mom Zone series by Sara Rosett have dropped in price at Kindle US and are now at prices ranging from $1.99 to $3.99. Strangely enough the first in the series, Moving Is Murder, has not dropped and is still at $5.99. However most of these drops are pretty recent, so it may drop too - link here to price check.

Super organizer Ellie Avery could really use some Christmas cheer when Gabrielle Matheson, a grinchy professional rival, sets up shop in the same small Georgia town. But before the halls are even halfway decked with holly, someone uses Ellie's terrifically tasteless white elephant swap gift as. . .a murder weapon!

Ellie's now a suspect. Besides playing Mrs. Santa for her Air Force pilot husband and their two kids, shielding her eyes from the garishly over-decorated house down the street, and helping a client who's a hardcore hoarder, Ellie also has to solve this ho-ho-homicide. . .and find a killer who wishes her a very deadly Christmas.

"Sara Rosett's Ellie Avery series is a winner. Rosett always delivers a terrific mystery with believable characters and lots of heart. The insider look at the life of a military spouse makes this series a fascinating read. I look forward to each new book." -- Denise Swanson, New York Times bestselling author of the Scumble River and Devereaux's Dime mystery series.

"Sara Rosett once again presents readers with intriguing characters, a strong setting, more than a dash of humor and a suspenseful plot that ably keeps us guessing until the end. No mean achievement! Yet, what places her sleuth, Air Force wife Ellie Avery, at the top of my list are the poignant descriptions of what military families face every day, bringing an essential reminder of their sacrifices to us all, especially at this time of year." -- Katherine Hall Page, Agatha Award-winning author of The Body in the Boudoir

In addition, if you like Rosett's writing, I thought I'd note that Elusive, the first in a self-pubbed series by Rosett, is also free right now (and for a looooong time before this), so you can check that out if you wish. I'm not usually a fan of blurbs that read "perfect for fans of This Famous Author or That Famous Series", but in this case I'm intrigued by the reference to Elizabeth Peters' Vicky Bliss series, rather than Peters' better known Amelia Peabody series. And since the Bliss series is my favorite too (although I like all of Peters' books), I may have to move this up on my TBR list. Anyway, here's info...

Perfect for fans of Elizabeth Peters's Vicky Bliss series or Peter Mayle's mysteries, Elusive mixes mystery, light-hearted adventure, international destinations, and a touch of romance.

Zoe Hunter loves living on the edge. Free-spirited and spontaneous, she’s built a life stringing together various freelance gigs that keep her bank account barely in the black.

But when her ex, Jack, goes missing along with several million dollars from his business and the FBI zeros in on her as a person of interest, Zoe’s life goes from delightfully unpredictable to downright frightening.

Plunged into a world of fake identities, deception, and murder, she’s afraid to trust anyone. Zoe impulsively skips town in a search for answers that takes her from Las Vegas to Italy, but instead of tracking down answers, she only uncovers more questions.

Who was Jack? Is he dead or did he fake his disappearance? And, what was he mixed up in—art theft, the mafia, espionage, or all three?
