No, there are no plans to offer DRM support built in to Calibre. This would be illegal in many countries.

DRM files already have limited support in calibre. You can manage your DRM'd books using calibre. You can add them to calibre's library. Adjust the library entries to look the way you want them and transfer the books to your reader.

You just can't add metadata to the DRM'd book, convert the DRM'd books to other formats or view them using calibre's viewer.

Two questions regarding installations of new versions of Calibre:

- Why does the "Checking Disk Space" take so along (up to two minutes on various machines)?

- Can the requirement to reboot after each install be removed? What in the registry needs to be changed that a reboot is required each time?

1) Because Microsoft are asses

2) You dont need to reboot if calibre is not running when you run the installer

Troubles With Calibre

I am running Calibre 0.17.18 on a Windows 7 Ultimate X64 machine. I am finding that Calibre runs very slow and tends to hang up repeatedly, becoming unresponsive. Additionally, mouse clicks are often ignored by Calibre.

BTW, the same problems occured with Calibre 0.17.17.

Can you suggest anything I can do to improve performance.

Meta data issue

I am a happy Papers user but recently I installed Calibre because it is working with Kindle. But when I import all my neatly arranged pdf files in Calibre the meta data is not the same as in Papers. So I guess the meta data is not saved in the specific pdf file but in the Papers library file. Is that correct? It took me ages to find all the correct meta data for my approximately fifteen hundred books. Doing it again in Calibre is a depressing thought. Please help!!!

After searching the user manual and the boards, I'm resorting to posting here.

Is there any way to transfer a book that's on my Kindle 3 into Calibre? This is not an Amazon book, if that matters.

Plug your kindle into your computer

Open the "documents" folder.

Copy the book, put it on your desktop.

Open Calibre, choose "add books" then choose 'desktop', find the book, bingo bango.

Hi!

I just want to be sure.

To backup al my ebooks and all the metadata and covers I've added, I just have to copy the Calibre's library folder, right? All books, including the two metadata files, true?
