Interesting. I was curious as to what the Canadian price for the Voyage would be so trundled off to amazon.ca. Hmmm... no Voyage being offered for pre-order. So let's try amazon.com. Kindle Voyage, no special offers, $219. Run through the checkout procedure. Can't ship to your address. You must order from amazon.ca. Bounce a query off amazon.ca and 3 days later get a polite canned response that they do not know when the Voyage will be offered to Canadian residents.

However a quick look at the various models on Amazon.com suggests the order of popularity for the various models:

Actually, I find swiping very good. It means I can hold the Reader in either hand and a simple small flick of the thumb and the page is turned. Doesn't matter which side of the screen I swipe. It just works. There's no need for tap zones.

Most likely not. There's never been any touch screen Reader that's has a setting to turn off page turns even if there are hardware buttons. I don't see this happening with the Voyage.

We already know it's not the case. You can see page turns by swiping in a few YouTube videos.

Although I'm inclined to agree with you in principle that Texas politics and politicians suck more than a million vacuum cleaners, it is my native home and most of my family still lives here. My roots in Texas go back to the early 1800s prior to independence. I'm not really sure why my dopey ancestors stopped here in a dry, cactus encrusted, rattlesnake infested wilderness run by greedy white land speculators and a corrupt Mexican dictator, but they did. Personally I would have continued westward until I reached New Mexico or Colorado. As much as I'm a fish out of water here, politically, ideologically, and religiously, I stay because of family. Without family I am nothing. Not a day goes by that I don't want to string up half or more of the Texas politicians, but it is home, and these days they no longer allow us to hang corrupt politicians in the town square.

All their various changes and they still haven't increased the number of font sizes. For those of us who need the larger fonts, there just isn't enough gradiations between medium-large and huge.

That's one of the things that is always keeping me away from a Kindle ereader. I buy a lot of Kindle books but I convert them to epubs and read them on my Nook HD using either the Mantano Essentials or Moon+ reading software because they let me adjust the font size more precisely.

No idea. I don't buy digital media from Amazon with my money. I only use credits, promos, and such.

Hi Jack,

Living in North Carolina BY CHOICE (sort of). Not thrilled with the politics here either. You know what I say to all those people who question why I live here? I say "Y'all come down and vote! No point in living in Massachusetts or one of them there liberal states. Go where your vote does some good."

More power to you, Texas Man!

I would call it medium, not medium large. I've never understood the lack of all modifications, not just text size like others have already said. Line spacing, margins, font choices...

I recently looked at the illustrations in these on my Nook HD+ in the Kindle app, and they looked amazing. It turns out that the subtle shading on these doesn't come out well on e-ink, but at least it shows that at least some e-books have higher resolutions images. I hope that reviews start covering this aspect.

Some e-readers clip large images, so it is not just a matter of pressuring publishers to use larger images. The reading software needs to handle them, and the HTML/CSS needs to be done correctly.

I hope the awareness of this issue increases. It is really sad how needlessly bad most e-book images are.
I totally agree! I used to often try to read my Amazon purchased ebooks on my computer using the Kindle app, and the images were so ridiculously tiny and low resolution they were worthless. It was especially frustrating for non-fiction books like those with fashion illustrations or interior design photos... with teeny-tiny photos. I could never understand why they didn't just use nice high resolution photos.

The various devices should be able to figure out how to display a higher resolution photo rather than defaulting to worthless low resolution photos. I had to return books because the photos were so awful.

I made up a couple of books for my own use and always used the largest photos I could, and they never failed to display on my Kindle Keyboard. I'm not sure what the difference is in the case where a previous poster here said large photos won't display on Kindle devices. Maybe they were way bigger than the large photos I was using. Still, no reason to use poor quality. Fix the eReader software instead!

If you use the correct css, an image can be set to use as much of the page as possible without needing any user intervention. Sadly too many publishers of epub format ebooks seem unable to pay any attention to how their ebooks look on a screen with more than 600x800 resolution.
Publishers and developers really need to fix this.
