I'm loving the way I can get a library book, through Amazon, and then buy the audio book for $3.99. I am listening to Never Seduce a Scot, and just bought Highlander Most Wanted, both by Maya Banks. The narrator, Kristen Potter, does an excellent job with the Scottish dialogue.

I don't find either of these titles on Kobo and I've tried changing my billing address several times

I stay away from the Romance thread(s) for a few months (Ok, some months ) and Nalini Singh writes not one but two NA books!

Hi to everyone!! (feel free to say "Hi, stranger" back ). I didn't go back too far in this thread but I'm sorry to hear about kybunnies; sending get-well wishes her way and she's now in my prayers. I hope everyone else is doing well. I'm doing much better than when I last posted in this corner of MR. I never received a definitive diagnosis (I did spend a ton of money searching for an answer though ) and I still have 'episodes' but nothing as scary as the beginning of the year. I'm still seeing the odd specialist here and there (have to see a new one on Friday) so maybe one day it'll all make sense. I'm resigned but hopeful (if that makes any sense ).

I haven't been back to post here in eons because I'm hardly reading romances anymore, and I got rid of lots of them. My health troubles made me re-evaluate my reading and realize that almost all of it was focused on one genre (even if I was still buying books from other genres), and I felt the desire to branch out more (like I used to before I discovered Mobileread). I've taken to reading more of my non-fiction stash, and devouring mysteries (which are, really, my first reading love; I'm a Nancy Drew chick ). I did read an old favorite over the weekend - Linda Howard's After the Night and I loved it as much as I did all the previous times I'd read it.

I have pretty much no idea what is going on in the Romance world these days. Going back to Nalini Singh, I wanted to ask library addict if the first NA was as good for her as the second. I checked Goodreads and the ratings seem all over the place. 3.5+ is a decent average rating for a book but we're talking Nalini Singh here.

I am reading Angels & Outlaws by Lori Wilde. It a HQ Blaze and it's on Scribd. I picked it out randomly to celebrate Harlequin joining Scribd.

It's really cold today. I can't believe how much colder it is. Waking up to 45 degrees in Raleigh is shocking after such a hot summer. Perfect Reading weather though. It's days like this I miss drinking hot cocoa. I am actually wearing two layers this morning. brrrrr.

Terri's doing great. She posting her usually stuff about sports on Facebook. She watches alot of games as she works because she works in a Sports bar. She gets to meet alot of the old players this way as I guess it's a local hangout for them. Who knows maybe she will hook one of the younger athletes. I keep hoping they catch these guys and that would make me feel better.

At her former bartender job she met alot of hot male dancers (Think Chippendales) She was always posting pics of posing with them.

She likes this job better I think less time having to play a persona and she can be more herself.

Blossom, I went searching backwards in the thread to find this. So good to hear your niece is doing OK. She is certainly super-brave; I think I'd have either fainted or done something to set them off. I hope the police get hold of them soon.

Loosh St Louis is in alot of turmoil right now due to rioting last month. You can google about it if you haven't heard but people have gone nuts. People are being robbed and shot and it's very widespread. The very Kmart I shopped at when I lived at home someone was robbed and shot. My sister can no longer leave my mother in vehicle while she runs into the store for a few items. It just isn't safe right now.

Terri is a strong woman. She has been to hell and back and yes I am so proud of her and the life she has carved for herself and daughter.

First, back. We've missed you. And yes, the Rock Kiss series was a surprise. Nalini apparently wrote the first book for fun in her spare time

Second, as you may or may not have seen earlier, I do not believe these books are or should be classified as NA. They are not coming of age stories and none of the characters are independent for the first time. The rock band the series revolves around has been together for a nearly a decade and the heroine of the first book had graduated and was working as a librarian for several years. The heroine of the second book is well-established in her career and is two years older than the hero (she's 29). I think a few posters at Goodreads tagged the first book as NA, but that's not the way the book is labeled anywhere else that I've seen.

That said, I do not think the first book, Rock Addiction, was as good as the second, Rock Courtship. The first book though introduces all of the characters and has a lot of subplots involving the other characters. The two stories are basically set concurrently. I had a lot of issues with the first book, particularly the hero. But I loved the heroine and supporting characters. The second book is a long novella and so the focus of the story is almost exclusively on the romance. I gave Rock Addiction a C+/3 stars and Rock Courtship an A/5 stars. But YMMV. Also as I said earlier in the thread (or it may have been the previous thread) Rock Addiction starts slow and the second half of the book overall is much better than the first half. Plus I think the tone of the second book is different than the first one.

I do think the second book would work as a stand-alone, but since the first book gives a lot of background info in the characters you'd be missing out on some of the depth of the romance if you just jump into book two. So if you are planning to read the series, I would start with the first book. But then I am one of those people who likes reading series in order. Also, I know several readers who did not like the first book at all, but enjoyed the second.

Trying to avoid spoilers. if there's anything specific you want to know just ask.

ETA: There is a lot of sex in these series. I would not classify them as erotica or erotic romance by any means, but from the reviews I've read I think the books just weren't what some fans of her paranormal series expected. The books are much more in the vein of her earlier Silhouette titles.

I'm guessing they must have taken both down because I don't seem them anymore too. In my Kobo library, both books shown up as drm-free which is weird since Ivy Books (the publisher) doesn't do drm-free (as far as I know).

The nook editions are also gone but I do see Google still has both books.

Thanks Amy_k, that's kind of strange. I had a Google Play credit from taking surveys so I purchased both books. Now I need to figure out how to open the book with Calibre so I can transfer it to my Kindle.
Edited to add--I was able to download the PDFs of both titles but the formatting is weird and I wonder if these were legitimately published.

Looking at the Google store both books are PDF. If DRM'd you'll get an acsm file like you would at Kobo for an DRM'd ePub or PDF. If not DRM'd it'll just be a direct PDF download.
