great thanks

well I flashed two different cards the way it says in the instructions and all I get when I turn it on is a white flashing light (maybe ten flashes) then it stops flashing and then nothing. I guess this means its dead?

You can try doing a manual factory reset. That sometimes helps. Also make sure it is charged.

That is how you do a manual factory reset. The instructions are on Kobo's support site, the MR Wiki and in the Kobo manual.

And everyone who thinks they need an image should try a factory reset first. I expect that it would fix a lot of devices without the need or an image.
