I'm not far off my target of reading a third from outside SF/Fantasy genres, but I have a lot of interesting SF books to tempt me at the moment. If I can find a good long mystery series, like the Martin Beck series that hooked me last year, it will help a lot.

Not mystery, but how about Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series. There's 20 books in it, and they are compelling and enjoyable reads. Plus, if you like audio books there are excellent Audible versions, including one of Master and Commander, the first in the series that is on sale right now. You could do a lot worse.

They are only available as audio books from my library so I kinda wish I could do audio books but I end up paying too much attention to them and not enough to what is going on around me (like driving or work or ...).

At $9+ each for the Kindle editions they are a LOT steep for my budget.

I'm pretty sure they're couponable at Kobo, so with the next unlimited 90% coupon you can pick up the whole series for a little over $20.

If that is the case, I may need to look into the Tools since I only have a Kindle and refuse to read on my phone.

Its going......

I'm doing well, so far, numbers wise (I've read 16 novels & 2 short stories), but my pace has been too sluggish for my liking.

One of the groups, of which I'm a member, on GoodReads has these monthly challenges which are really fun. This month's was called March Madness and I wanted to really push myself, to coincide with theme. Of the 5 to 9 books I decided to attempt, I've read 3, and there is only one more week left in the month. I'm reading a 4th now, but I don't know that I can finish it in time to start and complete a 5th - which would allow me to count the challenge as successfully completed. I'm hoping for a photo finish!

Well, I spent 5 weeks playing video games instead of reading, but my Nook is charging up as I type this.

I've been derailed for about two and a half weeks now. I normally would've gotten through half a dozen books in that time, but I've only made it through about 150 pages. Instead, I've been writing notes for (and the first couple of chapters of) what looks like a 120K-word novel.

I haven't written anything longer than a short story before, and that was about 20 years ago, but the characters Just. Won't. Shut. Up. So, okay, fine - I'm writing a book that I don't know how to market, about characters in a generation I'm not part of, under a name that's not mine. The frightening thing is that, according to a reader in that generation who's seen the first chapter, it's ringing true so far...

I'm not as scared as I was, but it's still shaping up to be one heckuva ride.

I'm doing pretty good, despite the current complications in my life. Still up-to-date on most of my goals, although I'm falling behind on the Novella/Short Story goal. Hopefully caught up before the end of the month.

That's seriously impressive!

I'm three books ahead of my goal according to Goodreads. I tend to read some books quite slowly - usually denser non-fiction ones - but then catch up by galloping through something lighter.

I believe I have put too many books on my list. Still 47 countries to go and 12,416 pages to go. If I make this I get a sticker.

Hoping to be in China by the end of April.

I thought it was just me. I got some a couple of new Nintendo DS games at Christmas and one on Valentine's Day -- I've been playing during my normal reading times. According to Goodreads, I'm exactly on track (toward my highest annual count) so I'm not doing too bad. As long as I don't think about where I might be if I had been reading books instead of in-game text!
